McKinley Elementary, Crushing Hopes in Compton, Charter Schools, California

The time for action in education is NOW!

Our founding fathers took action when it was apparent that the King of England had no respect for the colonists in America. Only the ill informed and those who profit from the current educational structure could argue that our educational system is not in dire need of reform. The time for action in education is NOW!

In the March 2nd ‘Wall Street Journal,’ there was an editorial entitled ‘Crushing Hopes in Compton.’ Oh, to have had this column written from a news perspective and placed next to the coverage of Wisconsin’s courageous Governor, Scott Walker, and the cowardly ‘Demoncrat’ legislators, out-of-sight and out-of-state. The op-ed exposed the dark secret that is occurring at McKinley Elementary school in Compton, CA and within the new Brown administration in Sacramento, CA. The political thuggery made famous by Chicago, and now, by the President, has apparently been adopted on the Left Coast in an effort to thwart the will of the parents who are looking out for the best interests of their children. The situation appears to be similar to the Washington, D. C. schools issue, yet some people still believe the NEA and ‘Demoncrats’ are committed to the education of children. Au contraire, mon ami! A ‘parental trigger’ that allows parents with children in poor performing schools to petition to replace administrators and invite a takeover by a charter school operator is being impeded at the highest levels of the school district and the CA government. This is the ultimate in disrespect for their students, the students’ parents and the taxpayers. The op-ed is well worth reading to gain a better insight as to how low those who champion the status quo will go to make sure beneficial change is never implemented. Pressure must be brought upon Governor Brown, State Superintendent, Tom Torlakson, and State Assemblywoman, Julia Brownley, to cease their covert attempts to sentence the children of McKinley Elementary to an outrageously poor education. Additionally, this type of thuggery by the NEA and government at all levels must be exposed wherever it exists within this country so that it is rooted out of existence for the good of our children. Why would any taxpayer be willing to fund the healthcare and retirement of organizations that are so committed to stifling the education of those in their charge? Pressure for positive change must come from those within the teaching ranks, as well as from students, parents and taxpayers. Those who are in the profession to educate children must wrestle control of their hierarchical apparatus from those focused solely upon amassing power and money. To do anything less puts the credibility of the majority of teachers into question. Teachers, especially the most committed and most effective, need to realize they are Stockholm syndrome victims of union and governmental subterfuge, as are the students, their parents/guardians, and taxpayers. I hope that those who have greater visibility and the resources necessary to gather information on similar circumstances will make this a lead story and front-page, above-the-fold issue. Greater exposure of the hideous, behind-the-scenes, ACORN and SEIU-like chicanery may encourage people to come forward on similar, harrowing circumstances. Our children’s and our nation’s futures depend, in large part, upon an educational system that fosters the best teaching and learning opportunities possible.
