The headline read, "Sbarro's files for Bankruptcy as mall traffic dwindles".

That one sentence carries a lot of information and no answers. This is the second time in three years they have filed. Recently several food chains have run into financial trouble recently, Unos, Bennigans, and Steak and Ale. Have these businesses suffered from poor management or are people changing their eating preferences? In the case or Sbarro's citing sagging mall traffic, are malls becoming passé as online shopping increases? Probably all are factors. The most important ingredient might be that people just don't have the money. They have had work hours cut and gas and food prices increased. There is great uncertainty in middle America. Sbarro's bankruptcy is just a sign of the times. Hillary Duke
