“They’re Going to Kill Me?” Canadian Family Demands Answers After Grandma Euthanized

A Canadian grandmother died by “assisted suicide” in a scene that can only be described as a farce, based on the account published by her traumatized family. A botched IV insertion sequence left 83-year-old Brigitte Stegemann, or “GG” drenched in blood flowing from her arm.

The devout Christian, closed her eyes and folded her hands as the bedside pastor prayed, but she never gave final, verbal consent to Dr. Kate Koester’s offer to administer her “medicine,” the family alleges.

Upon receiving no response, Koester allegedly replied, “Okay, well, I’m just going to get started then.” Minutes later, Stegemann was dead.

“The family had been assured, strictly and explicitly … that GG would be required to give a final, explicit verbal confirmation immediately before the injection,” noted independent journalist Kelsi Sheren, the first to interview the family. “It is the reason, they say, that they did not attempt to physically halt the procedure that morning.” Worse, Brigitte and Robert Kranendonk (Brigitte was Stegemann’s granddaughter, namesake, and power of attorney for 12 years) were asked to hand the doctor implements, thus pressuring them into helping in a procedure they did not want. ---More...

Woman Only Gets 13 Years for Putting Baby in Oven and Burning Her to Death

A Missouri mother who placed her newborn daughter in a hot oven and killed her was sentenced Tuesday to 13 years in prison after a first-degree murder charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement.

Mariah Thomas, 28, pleaded guilty in Jackson County Circuit Court to first-degree endangering the welfare of a child resulting in death in the February 2024 death of her 1-month-old daughter, Za’riah Thomas.

Judge Sarah A. Castle ordered her to serve 13 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections with no probation and credit for time already served.

Thomas was also ordered to pay $68 to Missouri’s Crime Victims’ Compensation Fund.

Court records state she had no mental disease or defect defense.

The first-degree murder charge that prosecutors had added to the case was dismissed under the plea deal. The agreement came two weeks before Thomas was scheduled to face a jury. ---More...

Supreme Court Won’t Hear McKenna West’s Case to Care for Baby Gabriel

The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to intervene in the case of Alaska surrogate McKenna West, who refused to abort the baby she was carrying after he was diagnosed with a serious heart defect and then fought for a say in his care.

Justice Elena Kagan denied West’s emergency request without explanation.

The order leaves standing a California ruling that recognizes intended parents Nausheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed as the legal parents of the boy West delivered in Dallas on Aug. 12.

Meanwhile the Texas Supreme Court on Monday rejected surrogate McKenna West’s request to keep the surrogate child she gave birth to in Texas, allowing Baby Gabriel’s biological parents to take him to California for further heart treatment. ---More...

Twelve Days and Shawn was Dead. A man fell in his living room on Vancouver Island. Twelve days later he was dead by MAID. His family still can’t get his medical records.

On May 9, 2025, Shawn Bauman fell at home on Vancouver Island. He was 55 years old. On May 21, 2025, he was euthanized.

Twelve days.

He was not terminally ill. He had already survived cancer, he had already survived heart surgery. His ex-wife — the mother of his two daughters — says there was nothing to indicate the end was near. He was a heavy drinker and he was not in the best of health. That is a different thing than dying.

This is her account. She wrote it out herself, and she has given it to me. I am reporting what the family says happened and what the record shows. Where I could not confirm something, I say so.
