Things Not Going Well at the Latest G7? It’s all Trump’s Fault

Things Not Going Well at the Latest G7? It’s all Trump’s FaultThe media’s in a frenzy to blame President Donald Trump for the international joke known as G7. Where else but the G7 could protesters march around with 128 “official” portraits of French President Emanuel Macron—swiped from town halls and other French government buildings? “To date, at least 128 portraits of Macron have been removed from French town halls. Quickly passed on to other activists for safe-keeping, these portraits are now ready to be retrieved from their secret hiding places to go on display in Bayonne on Sunday.” (France24.com, Aug. 24, 2019)
One hundred and twenty eight portraits is no small cache. Is there no security in any of the government buildings in France? Gone from Google, just one day after, are stories not about the Macron temper tantrum: ‘Macron Rips Up Agenda for his G-7 in a Fit of Climate Fury’, replaced by—you guessed it—Trump tantrums. ‘G7 Summit With Trump behaving bizarrely, a lot could go wrong’ is the headline on SkyNews.
“The prelude to the G7 summit has been one of the wackiest episodes,” writes Sky’s Dominic Waghorn.
The story finds Fox News in on the act again: In reporting a a story about how the U.S. and Britain will work out a “very big trade deal” once the U.K. has left the European Union,   promised by President Trump, Fox added: “The president appeared to slight former Prime Minister Theresa May – who he had frequently criticized – by adding that Johnson is “a new person.” How can describing Johnson as “a new person” slight former Prime Minister Theresa May?

Look out, Boris, the media can poke fun of your ‘“The Simpson’s “hair-ica” too.(Canada Free Press, Aug. 24, 2019) Before Trump ‘tantrums’ replaced Macron’s, this is what the media reported: “Emmanuel Macron has gone off script. (Yahoo News, Aug. 24, 2019)
"It took the French president less than 24 hours to wrong foot his closest partners and toss a curve ball into the buildup to the Group of Seven summit. His fellow leaders hadn’t even landed. And all this when Macron was supposed to be shoring up the European alliance for another confrontation with Donald Trump.” “Even Macron’s close advisers had no idea about the bombshell the president (who is not a regular tweeter like Trump) was about to drop.”
Even with green activists hoisting his stolen “official portraits”, meant to show up his hypocrisy about Saving the Environment in France, Macron tried to come on as the hero working to save the Amazon jungle from destruction by raging fires.
“Alarmed by the record number of fires ravaging the Amazon jungle, Macron announced that the “emergency” would be a central focus of his summit, abandoning months of careful choreography that even involves France’s most celebrated chef preparing meat for Trump and vegetarian fare for special guest Narendra Modi. (Yahoo) “Problem was he didn’t seem to have let key players in on his decision. Within two hours, his call to arms was met with a furious response from Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who accused Macron of colonial posturing. Affairs relating to Brazil should not be discussed without Brazil at the table, Bolsonaro said.”

Spot-on, President Bolsonaro. Meanwhile, anything and everything that goes wrong at the G7 will be President Donald Trump’s fault. According to Sky News, “the last G7 in Quebec was utterly wrecked by Donald Trump.” (Sky News)
“He did not like something the Canadian prime minister said in his closing news conference, which he watched on Air Force One after leaving.” “In the tantrum that followed, he ordered his signature be scratched from that summit's ill-fated communique. “The one before that, he announced America's withdrawal from the Paris climate change agreement, depressing millions across the planet.” “This one is not shaping up any better.”
There you have it: America’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Change Agreement “depressed MILLIONS” across the planet. Were it not for the factoid that it is world ‘leaders’ in attendance at G7 gatherings, their fractious get-togethers in the world’s most luxurious settings, would be a hilarious joke.
