Canadian-built, fuel-efficient, award-winning models drive Toyota and Lexus sales

Toyota Canada Inc. achieves new sales milestone surpassing 2007 sales record with two months to go



TORONTO, Nov. 3 /CNW/ - Canadian drivers choose Canadian-made Toyota and Lexus vehicles allowing Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) to surpass its 2007 record sales performance in October. Sales of Toyota and Lexus cars and trucks totalled 15,843 over the past month - up 9.4% from October 2007 to set a year-to-date total of 201,614. That surpasses 2007's record-setting 201,326 vehicles sold, with two months still to go in the year.

"We would like to thank Canadian drivers who have enabled us to reach an exciting moment in Canadian history for Toyota Canada Inc.," said Tony Wearing, Managing Director, TCI. Highlights from October 2008 (versus October 2007): - 14,539 Toyota models sold, up 8.8%; includes best-ever October for Toyota Trucks, at 4,568 - 1304 Lexus models sold, up 15.8%; best-ever October for Lexus Made-for-Canada successes: - 3,999 award-winning Canadian-built Toyota Corolla models sold, up 41.8% for best-ever October - 2,016 Canadian-built Toyota Matrix models sold, up 37.9% - 1,999 Toyota RAV4 models sold, up 51.9% for best-ever October (RAV4 production to begin in Canada by year-end) - 438 Canadian-built Lexus RX 350 models sold, up 33.5% Best-ever October for hybrid models driven by the following models: - 326 Toyota Prius hybrid liftback models sold, up 84.2% - 114 Toyota Highlander Hybrid mid-size crossover SUVs sold, up 2750.0% - 129 Lexus RX 400h mid-size hybrid luxury SUVs sold, up 26.5% "We thank Canadians for making Toyota their continued choice for fuel-efficient, reliable transportation - and discovering that our vehicles deliver more performance, style, comfort and value," said Warren Orton, Director at TCI. Toyota recently announced that for 2009 all-new segment-busting Toyota Venza will arrive in dealerships in early January; and starting in 2010, Canadians will have more to choose from when the fun and fuel-efficient SCION arrives in Canada.
