You owe it to your country, Sir, to pick them up, dust them off, and ready them for the coming new battle. Unfortunately, Round 2 has already slipped away from ‘Making America Great Again’ to ‘Saving America Again’

It was, as a caller told Rush Limbaugh today, a snake bite in the butt, President Trump. Your suddenly changing course and signing the outrageous Omnibus Bill, that is.
Up to now, you’ve done a good job remaining loyal to the things you promised some 63 million people who voted for you. Now many of them will say you are a politician just like all the others—and just like back stabbers House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wanted to leave your looking. “Trump said he was “very disappointed” in the package, in part because it did not fully fund his plans for a border wall with Mexico and did not address some 700,000 “Dreamer” immigrants who are now protected from deportation under a program that he has moved to eliminate. “But Trump praised the increases the bill provides for military spending and said he had “no choice but to fund our military.” “My highest duty is to keep America safe,” he said. “The bill signing came a few hours after Trump created last-minute drama by saying in a tweet that he was “considering” a veto. “With Congress already on recess, and a government shutdown looming, he said that young immigrants now protected in the U.S. under Barack Obama’s Delayed Action for Childhood Arrivals “have been totally abandoned by the Democrats (not even mentioned in Bill) and the BORDER WALL, which is desperately needed for our National Defense, is not fully funded.”
“Trump’s veto threat was at odds with top members of his administration and House Speaker Paul Ryan, who had said Thursday that he was supportive of the measure. The White House also issued a formal statement of administration policy indicating Trump would sign the bill. Several advisers inside and outside the White House said they suspected the tweet was just Trump blowing off steam.” (AP)That’s exactly what we’d expect them to say.
“Finally, in made-for-TV scheduling, the White House announced a news conference. Telegraphing the outcome, an internal television feed advertised the event this way: “President Trump Participates in a Bill Signing.” (AP) “Asked why he’d made the threat, Trump said he’d “looked very seriously at the veto,” but “because of the incredible gains that we’ve been able to make for the military that overrode any of our thinking.” “The will-he, won’t-he episode came hours after the Senate early Friday morning passed the $1.3 trillion spending package aimed at keeping the government open past midnight.”For We the People who expected better, it was a back-and-forth emotional see-saw.
And the $1.3 trillion spending package, which contains a pay raise for congress, is only good until September when the politicians will be back at the public trough again for more money.
For all of those who saw this spending package as a give-away, wait until the next one with an election looming.
The pigs in the trough haven’t produced a budget since 2009, and according to radio talk show giant Rush Limbaugh, they’ve “snuck something in” to make sure there’s no budget process in the next spending package either.
“That agenda is being aided and abetted by this budget. And with Dave Brat, Republican representative from Virginia, saying that there’s a little sneaky provision snuck in this thing at the last moment claiming that this is it for a while… You know, Paul Ryan went out and said, “It’s only six months! Come on, folks. Back off. Six months! It’s the best deal we could have gotten. It’s only six months. It’s better than two weeks.” (Rush Limbaugh, March 23, 2018)
Because he’s Libertarian at heart, and cast his vote against the Bill, we can take Sen. Rand Paul’s words at face value:
“Shame, shame. A pox on both Houses - and parties,” tweeted Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., who spent the afternoon tweeting details found in the 2,200-page bill that was released the night before. “No one has read it. Congress is broken.” (AP)Congress has been broken for a very long time, and the real worry now is “Did Populist President Donald Trump jump into the swamp with the very politicians leaving America destitute in finding the way out of it?
