Tucker Carlson: Highly placed sources tell us CNN ordered anchors and producers to discredit Donna Brazile As we've discussed, Donna Brazile's new book is causing something of a civil war within the Democratic Party. OK, fine. "Causing" is probably the wrong word. "Exacerbating" is more accurate. That's because the divisions on the left - between the party's Bernie-loving base and the DNC-elites - have been widening since 2015. Remember, roughly half the party wanted nothing to do with Hillary's 2016 candidacy. Various Democrat voting blocs see her as either too centrist, to corporate, or too crooked to represent them. Almost without exception, the people in these groups wanted Bernie Sanders to land the nomination. I've made the case that he wouldn't have fared much better than Clinton, but at least his loss would have been an honest one.
Donna Brazile's revelations about DNC efforts to squash Bernie's candidacy have pushed already-hot tempers to the boiling point. So, what are Clinton and DNC allies doing about it? They're trying to destroy Brazile. At least, that's what Tucker Carlson's claims "highly informed" CNN sources are telling him:
"According to highly informed sources we spoke to - highly informed – top management at CNN directed its employees to undermine Brazile’s credibility. Anchors and producers were vocally offended by her attacks on their friends, the Clintons. If you’ve been watching that channel, you may have noticed CNN’s anchors suggesting that Donna Brazile cannot be trusted, precisely because she took part in efforts to break the primaries for Clinton.”
Carlson made the claim on last night's installment of his Fox News show, and then ran a clip of various CNN hosts trashing their former colleague. I get that this is news because Carlson allegedly has sources that are willing to talk about it, but I have to wonder... Is anyone actually surprised? To quote the network bumpers, "This is CNN." Back in the 90's it was nicknamed "The Clinton News Network" for a reason. I don't doubt that CNN is targeting Brazile, but I'm amazed that various news outlets are portraying it as a revelation. This is how CNN has always functioned. I guess it's a bit different since they're using it against a prominent Democrat, but we've seen this playbook in action for decades. It's why the network has no credibility. At this point, we should simply expect it.
