Tucson Sector U.S. Border Patrol Agent Killed in Line of Duty

TUCSON, Ariz. – Last night, Border Patrol Agent Brian A. Terry was shot and killed after he encountered several suspects near Rio Rico, Ariz. At least four suspects are in custody while one is still being pursued. Agent Terry’s murder is a tragic reminder of the ever-present dangers U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, Air & Marine officers and Border Patrol agents face as they protect our Nation’s borders.

Agent Terry was a native of Detroit, Michigan, and is survived by his parents, a brother and two sisters. He was 40 years old. Agent Terry was held in the highest esteem by his peers and served more than three years in the United States Border Patrol. As a section leader in the Border Patrol Academy, he exemplified the qualities of a Border Patrol Agent. Agent Terry had a proud history of serving his country as he also served three years in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1994. The incident investigation is being led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office image
