Turn the land back to the states.

It is more important than ever that we address each issue or headline that seems to be causing division or misinformation. For example: "Congress just made it easier to sell off federal land, including national parks". No, they did not. That is an assumption about an outcome. In 11 western states and Alaska, the federal government owns an average of 53.5% of the total land area. Countrywide the total is about 30%. This seriously cripples the States ability to general revenue, to access natural resources and to govern their own territory. It isn't financially feasible. And those figures do not take into account State and local (county/city) owned property. In reading the many articles about this proposal, the idea is to turn the land back to the states. What is wrong with that? The people of those states are in a better place to make decisions about their state, its lands, budget, needs and desires. Do we need parks and natural space? Of course we do. But the federal government is not the best vehicle. If you are concerned about park lands, this should be good news. You will have a stronger voice in their use and dispensation.
