“Bring Our Homeless Veterans Home” is the cry of a Nation

Veteran Dream: A Western White House—Commander-in-Chief’s Mansion

Veteran Dream: A Western White House—Commander-in-Chief’s MansionOld Guard Veteran Robert Rosebrock—who has led protests in front of the Los Angeles VA compound every Sunday for the past 15 years—is calling on President Donald Trump to rescue the nearby Civil War-Era ‘Old Soldiers Home’--Governor’s Mansion that has been rented out for renaissance by the same hustlers who robbed veterans of their VA on land that was exclusively deeded in 1888—“to be permanently maintained as a National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers.” An ambitious dream indeed, but one that lives in the 77-year-old Army Veteran’s heart.

The City of Los Angeles—home of the largest VA property in the Nation

Just as the vets are out of sight and out of mind, the 22-acre Old Soldiers Home/Governor’s Mansion, hidden by trees in sadly abandoned gardens, on otherwise busy Wilshire Blvd., is situated within the 388 acres known as the Los Angeles VA Healthcare System—the largest and arguably, most neglected VA in the nation. The only war vets that can be seen on L.A. VA property today are homeless ones living on makeshift cardboard shelters in front of the VA gate, where they and their pitiful earthly belongings are carted off on a routine basis by the garbage collectors sent by local authorities. Ghosts even before their earthly time is up, the forgotten vets have been entirely overlooked in the current L.A. homeless crisis. With no place to call home, thousands of them, some hungry and in declining health, wait hopelessly for the gates of the VA to be opened as the government promised they would in a legally signed deed. The City of Los Angeles—home of the largest VA property in the Nation—has become home to the largest military veteran population in the USA. Old Soldiers Home/Governor’s Mansion

West Los Angeles Leasing Act of 2016

On Wednesday, Rosebrock will get all of five minutes speaking time at a major meeting of the West Los Angeles VA to introduce his proposal for the abandoned governor’s mansion. “I'd like to introduce the proposal with your article”, he wrote Canada Free Press today. Rosebrock wrote a letter to President Donald Trump over the Christmas holidays telling the president that “the once-revered but now shamefully run-down and deserted “Governor’s Mansion” on VA land, has been handed over to to a private developer, courtesy of the Feinstein-Lieu “West Los Angeles Leasing Act of 2016”—signed by President Obama about a month before you were elected”. “The Los Angeles VA is in U.S. Congressman Ted Lieu’s 33rd District and it also falls under the stewardship of U.S. Senators Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris. Collectively, they only care for and serve the “wants” of their wealthy non-Veteran constituents at the expense of the “needs” of our war-injured and impoverished homeless Veterans,” Rosebrock wrote in his poignant letter. Back on July 11, Democrat Congressman Ted W. Lieu issued the following statement after the House passed his amendment to the NDAA limiting Defense funds from being used at Trump-owned properties. The amendment would prevent the President from profiting off of American taxpayers by forcing government employees to stay at his properties and subsidize his businesses. The amendment enables funds to be used at Trump-owned properties if the President agrees to reimburse the Treasury Department for costs associated with his stay. The amendment was cosponsored by Reps. Jayapal, Cohen and Beyer:
“It is crucial to our democracy that the President acts in pursuit of the public’s best interest – not his own. To date, Trump has spent 270 days at properties that he or his family owns. Every time he does, he profits. According to a February 2019 Government Accountability Office report, the President spends an average of $3.4 million taxpayer dollars every time he travels to Mar-a-Lago. You shouldn’t go into public service to benefit your private businesses. I’m glad this amendment passed so we can start to drain the swamp.”
To Impeachment-obsessed Democrats, President Trump’s presence is about as welcome as the vets languishing in front of their locked-gate , Los Angeles VA compound. Rosebrock hopes to change that with a proposal for both restoring the abandoned Governor’s Mansion back to its 131-year-old glory; bringing America’s veterans into helping make it happen with “a new West Coast Whitehouse” for President Trump. “At this great and historic National Veterans Home estate in West Los Angeles, it is proposed that an official branch “Western White House / Commander-in-Chief’s Mansion” representing ‘We the People,’ be enshrined amidst a gallery of “Veterans Peace and Freedom Gardens,” dedicated to all the men and women who have proudly and selflessly pledged their lives in defense of our Nation’s peace and freedom, dating from the American Revolutionary War to the present, and into the future. sample gardens

“Consequently, this unparalleled 22-acre Estate will not only be a high-profile monument to America’s historic presidential leadership, but it will become a very significant compound for the leader of the free-world to host summit meetings with world-wide leaders for the mutual pursuit of universal peace and freedom. “Equally important, this will be a getaway-residence of solace for America’s Commander-in-Chief to visit and bond with U.S. Military Veterans at the VA Wadsworth Hospital who are healing from defending our Nation, as the hospital is just a short walk from the proposed new “Western White House.” “It is also a very short distance from the Los Angeles National Cemetery where more than 85,000 Veterans and family members have been interred, including fourteen recipients of the Medal of Honor. “As a tribute to the selfless teamwork and competitive spirit of our U.S. Military excellence, the “Veterans Peace and Freedom Gardens” will be jointly featured through our U.S. Armed Forces -- Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. To ensure military-style precision and excellence, organized teams of Veterans will work together under their respective military branches in creating and preserving these patriotic “Veterans Peace and Freedom Gardens” that will reflect their camaraderie and pride of service in defending and protecting peace and freedom throughout the world.

Bring Our Homeless Veterans Home” is the cry of a Nation

“Looking to the future, we celebrate not only the glory and grandeur of the “Old Soldiers Home” established 131 years ago, but also an awakening of America’s responsibility to serve our current and future U.S Military Veterans with the same respect, honor and decorum they did in the past.” Rosebrock’s unrelenting cry to “Bring Our Homeless Veterans Home” is the cry of a Nation. Meanwhile, even amidst the heartbreak of being forgotten, ignored and left out on the street, some vets still dare to dream. Veteran Robert Rosebrock’s proposal is one dream the President Donald Trump Administration could help make come true.
