What about Sophie

While Britain rightly rejoices at the birth of the Prince of Cambridge, 3rd in line to the throne, a political question remains on the UK government table, one which the coalition government seems determined to ignore. Mr. Cameron, What about Sophie?

On July 14th the group ‘Gay Marriage No Thanks’, launched a billboard campaign in London titled ‘What about Sophie!’ The idea is to introduce the idea that children are affected by marriage, gay marriage, and the lack of marriage in their upbringing. The organization’s website lists 10 reasons, published in ‘The Times’ in June, why the House of Lords should say no to the same-sex marriage bill.

1. Intact biological families provide the gold standard for the wellbeing of children.
2. Children have a human right to be nurtured by both their biological parents.
3. Gay parenting by definition denies the child from having one or both biological parents.
4. Popular support for the Bill is based on the unfounded theory that people are 'born gay'.
5. All school children will be taught that as adults they can have marriage relationships with either men or women.
6. Adolescents commonly experience temporary same-sex attraction: this does not mean they are gay.
7. There is no evidence that SSM strengthens marriage. In Spain marriage rates fell precipitously.
8. Behind this Bill is a militant move to deny gender difference.
9. ‘Equal love’ leads to unequal marriage.
10. Civil partnerships already provide all the legal and financial benefits of marriage for gay people.

Most evident in the list of 10 reasons are #’s 1-3 and #8. A study published by Professor Mark Regnerus last year from a randomly-selected sample of nearly 3,000 respondents, shows emphatically that children are “most apt to succeed well as adults – on multiple counts and across a variety of domains – when they spend their entire childhood with their married mother and father.” Children are denied their God-given rights by gay-marriage when they are adopted by one or neither of the biological parents. Children should be nurtured by both their biological parents in a marital setting. Anything less produces insecurity which in fact is a contributing cause of homosexuality. But it is the militant agenda of the gay-lobby that is both most disturbing and most revealing. Militant gays are on a quest for acceptance. Not just a nod of approval but a legal assertion that their lifestyle and choices are as legitimate as heterosexuals. Denial triggers serious and almost pathological anger. According to Christian Concern, on July 16th the progress of the pro-children’s campaign was stalled after a truck carrying two of its mobile billboards was vandalised and the driver of the van displaying it was threatened in central London. According to the advertising agency that operates the truck they were - “unable to send out the advertising truck today following yesterday’s campaign day. Unfortunately the driver out yesterday received threats, the truck was vandalised and there have been several offensive complaints received.” Alan Craig, Campaign Director said “These incidents show how free speech is already being shut down before any change in the law on marriage. The billboard was simply intended to initiate legitimate debate concerning the best environment for raising children. We're quite convinced that the overwhelming evidence demonstrates children do best with their married birth mother and father. This is a debate which urgently needs to take place. Vandalism, abuse and threats of physical violence threaten to shut down such democratic debate. Advertising companies and others will no longer be willing to carry 'controversial' pro-children and pro-family messages if the safety of their employees is put in jeopardy. The situation will only get worse with the passage of the same sex marriage bill. What will Mr Cameron do about it? We have been asking him to consider the welfare of our nation's children. Now we're also asking him what he will do to ensure the freedom of speech for those who, for very good reasons, oppose same sex marriage.” The most telling statement by Craig is that “the situation will only get worse”. The gay-lobby will not be satisfied with the legalization of gay-marriage because they seek to fill emptiness and resolve an anger that is unjustified by their lifestyle. Eventually, what has already been seen in Bahrain will come to Britain, a very unholy alliance between social liberals and Shiite’s favorable to Sharia. They are united by the concept of victimhood and class discrimination. Despite their absolute contradictory values, these two forces will work together to eliminate Christian values and conservative concepts once and for all.
