Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is considering applying for asylum in Switzerland because he fears for his safety. The veteran computer expert, who was in Geneva speaking at a human rights convention, said he was looking for a safe place to set up shop for him and his followers to continue his intelligence operation. It was all about his cause and the celebrity status he enjoyed, because if it were just about the cause, we wouldn’t know who he is. That’s Julian’s problem….
This isn’t the first time Assange has said he feared for his security. In July, after he leaked secrets from an American soldier who was later charged with mishandling classified data, he told reporters he feared being forcefully detained by the U.S. government. “In terms of returning to the United States I don’t know,” he told the Guardian newspaper. “Our sources advise from inside the US government that there were thoughts of whether I could be charged as a co-conspirator to espionage, which is serious.” Next on Wikileaks hit list is Russia, according to recent reports. If Julian Assange thinks the US Government was evil, wait until he messes in the Russian’s business. I’ve heard they don’t play.
