2021: we are living in the world as described by Ayn Rand 75 years ago

Who Is John Galt?

Who Is John Galt? Many of you, who have read it, will recognize the title of this article as the opening line in Ayn Rand’s classic novel Atlas Shrugged. As I have been assessing my possessions during my current downsizing move, I ran across my copy of Atlas Shrugged. I originally read it a decade or so ago and was somewhat impressed with what Rand had to say. At that time I thought I got it, but I now recognized I didn’t really get it at all. On my first reading I certainly didn’t fully appreciate, at that time, just how far off the rails our government already was.

Rand described a world where super rich elitists were plotting the control of everything to include population control

Ladies and gentlemen, as I am now reading the book again I have discovered in 2021 we are living in the world as described by Ayn Rand 75 years ago. She described the twisted kind of society clearly identifiable as our current woke culture. She described a corrupt political system where who you know was the driving motivation for government action in any field, and traditional Judeo-Christian values of right and wrong were no longer accepted. Do you recognize this in our world? Rand described a world where super rich elitists were plotting the control of everything to include population control. She describes a world where minor bureaucrats create regulations and enforce them as if they went through the true law making process. Rand recognized that a critical element in the government elitist cabal was a cooperative and condoning media. Does any of this seem familiar? Rand described a world where the government justified their theft of individual rights for the good and welfare of the general public. The world she described was based on people’s feelings and their humanity. Individual rights were simply not important. Do you recognize something here?

We are now living Atlas Shrugged in real time

Most important, in the world Rand describes everything was done not through a Constitutional law make process, but by government decree. The government was weaponized against the citizens of the United States of America. The sad thing is that Ayn Rand’s Americans were so apathetic they accepted the theft of their rights a little bit at a time until they were completely controlled by the wealthy elitist and the elitist government. Two thirds or three quarters of the way through Ayn Rand’s book, her fictional America parallels our America as it is today. We are now living Atlas Shrugged in real time. Because she has been so right on to this point, is there any reason not to anticipate the total collapse of our America similar to the collapse she describes in her book? We know our federal government has collapsed, and we have no idea who is really running the country. We do know it isn’t Joe Biden. Many Democrat run big city governments have also collapsed. The chaos and crime rates demonstrate that daily. I fear we are headed down a road similar to what Rand describes. As a person who lived under socialism/communism, Ayn Rand describes in Atlas Shrugged “a communist America” without using that term. It is a world that our Socialist Democrat leaders and their elitist minions aspire to establish, and they are in fact turning America into. Will the apathy America is experiencing today end in time to intercept the Rand vision of America, or are we way past that tipping point? Only time will tell, and that time is short. If you haven’t read Atlas Shrugged, please get a copy. If you have read it, read it again. It is terrifying how what you read is recognizable in our America today. If we don’t change something soon, you will know what to expect for the next twenty years or so after reading or rereading Atlas Shrugged.
