President’s ugly, verbal assault upon Representative Ryan

Why accept an invitation to a public verbal caning?

One thing is certain. Our petulant President never disappoints when it comes to displaying his arrogance and immaturity in public. His politicized public verbal caning of Representative Paul Ryan lived down to everything we have come to expect from this President. With his record of lashing out at those with whom he disagrees, why would anyone accept an invitation to a public verbal caning?

In reviewing an array of his words and actions, we have never had a President who has sullied the Office of the President as he has. Isn’t he on record for paraphrasing a line from the movie, ‘The Untouchables,’ … that if an enemy comes to a fight with a knife, he’ll bring a gun? Doesn’t this reveal his true intentions about how he deals with political opponents? Haven’t his actions in political office and before exposed him as someone lacking honesty, ethics, morality and honor? Without an effort to obtain all of the facts regarding the Henry Louis Gates issue, wasn’t the comment that the Cambridge police ‘acted stupidly’ an immature, racially motivated assault by a President who was thrust upon us as being post-racial? Hasn’t the President used his national addresses as a venue to advance his agenda, without regard for the truth? Doesn’t he speak only to his ‘constituencies,’ not to the entire nation? Didn’t our President abuse the BULLY pulpit when taunting of the Supreme Court justices regarding the Supreme Court’s decision on financing political campaigns? Heading into the contentious 2010 Midterm election, didn’t he resort to encouraging his political allies to ‘punish our enemies and reward our friends?’ Sadly, he has learned the ‘Chicago Way’ all too well! After the shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords and the massacre of innocent people, didn’t the President call for unity by proclaiming, ‘At a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized, at a time when we are far too eager to lay blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who think differently than we do, it’s important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds?’ Was that a nano-moment? Was he sincere, or just grandstanding? You be the judge! Now we witness the President’s ugly verbal assault upon Representative Ryan. The audacity of arrogance of our President is boundless. What a sad display of contempt by such a shallow individual. What our President and his confederates fail to realize is that one earns respect; it can’t be demanded! Intimidation by title is a hallow ‘victory.’ Titles are empty when the person fails to inspire respect. As a Community Agitator, didn’t this President resort to blackmailing his opponents into concessions behind closed doors? Can the fact that a growing majority of the populace refuses to be bowed to his will be the source of his evident frustration? To paraphrase his comment, ‘Does he think we’re stupid?’ He can have all of the great speechwriters that taxpayers’ money can buy and he can speak eloquently with the aid of a teleprompter, but until the President’s hardened heart softens and he listens to a concerned citizenry, his words will continue to divide and injure our great nation.
