Why Donald Trump Will Choose Newt Gingrich as His Vice President

Anything is possible with Donald Trump. He is constantly unpredictable. He is always going against the political grain. Marching to his own drummer. Making up his own rules as he goes along and then not following his own rules. But underneath the bombast and blarney, Trump is a clear-eyed, cold-hearted, calculating realist. He knows that his strengths are his acute political instincts. He has an innate ability to perceive “the big picture”, but “a big picture” that is usually a very different picture than is often portrayed by the mainstream media.
While such unimaginative liberal politicians as Obama and Hillary were extolling the virtues of Britain staying within the EU and fully expecting Britain would ultimately vote to remain in the EU, Trump brilliantly saw and understood the greater picture, that there was a much more powerful populist, nationalistic, anti-elitist, pro Britain for Britons story at play. Contrary to the slow-thinking Obama/Hillary, Trump predicted the Leave forces, Brexit, would triumph. Which it did decisively with a vengeance. Other Trumpian strengths are his fearlessness and courage to question and ridicule convention, conventional politicians and conventional political opinions. Trump brilliantly intuited his opponents’ weaknesses and called them out on them, ie Lying Ted Cruz, Little Marco Rubio, the very weak Jeb Bush and the cowardly Mittens Romney. Trump has no political experience in comparison to Hillary who has been in public life, for better or worse ( mostly worse, in the humble opinion of this wretched scribe) for several decades. Also Hillary has out fundraised and out organized Trump on the ground. Hillary and her PACS and pack animals have spent millions and millions of dollars trying vainly to deliver a fatal blow to Trump’s presidential chances.

Notwithstanding all the above, and Hillary being supported by the mainstream media, Trump has driven the political agenda for the last 6 months. Hillary knows it. Her lackeys know it and the American people know it. According to a recent Qunnipiac poll, the majority of American people believe that Trump, this very well known self-promoting real estate developer, this bombastic reality television host, could better manage the economy and fight terrorism than Hillary. Many Americans may not like Trump, but clearly the majority of Americans do not trust Hillary. Even Hillary’s major supporters and defenders agree that she is not very likeable, but she has tons of political experience. Where Trump has nil, nano, zip, gornicht. And his lack of political experience and knowledge of the nitty gritty of Washington lawmaking, make many Americans nervous. Hence, Newt Gingrich is Trump’s obvious choice for vice president. Newt was an elected congressman for twenty years from the sixth district of Georgia. In 1995 he led the GOP party to majority control of the House of Representatives for the first time in four decades and he ascended to Speaker of the House. Prior to running for Congress, Newt, who has a Ph.D in History, was a university professor. He has authored and co-authored 27 books. His knowledge of Europe and Asia is encyclopedic. As previously noted, in the 90s Newt was the congressional head of the Republicans. As Speaker of the House, he knows how to get things done as a politico insider. In the mid 1990s he helped bring about welfare reform and the reduction of the capital gains tax. Newt also knows how to be a rabble rouser, an outlier and to stir up #, organize political opposition and block legislation or policies unappealing to him and the Republican party. As Newt effectively did in the 90s when Hillary, acting as Bill Clinton’s health care adviser, tried to promote her health care system. And failed miserably. Thanks in part to Newt’s tenacious adversarial efforts,

Newt was also a leading political force in Washington pushing for Slick Willy’s impeachment for lying to Congress and the American people, that he did not have sexual relations with his innocent, naïve and victimized female intern, Monica Lewinsky. So the Newt also had it out for the Clintons, has been a burr under their bonnets for decades and has tons of political experience in the Congressional trenches. All music to Trump’s ears. Also Newt is no choir boy. He has his personal flaws and defects. He has had and has his issues. A wife or three. Some scandalous extra marital affairs under his belt. But then who doesn’t have a few skeletons in the closet. A few things in our past, of which we are not proud. Also Newt has great political instincts. And to his credit he had the cojones to come out for Trump publicly, articulately and persuasively, well before Trump secured the GOP nomination. And most importantly, Trump and New get along. A very critical element to any successful president/vp ticket. The Newt will be nominated by Trump within days. Well before the GOP convention. With Newt in his corner, Trump will be better to argue that he has covered off his lack of Washington political experience. There is a very smart, bright, competent and experience political hand on the rudder with Captain Trump. The Donald and The Newt Will be a formidable dynamic duo.
