Why I'm A 'Safe Fun Escort' Or Bodyguard For Those Who Party Hard

From my 'Adventures In Retail Safety Creation' file last night:

Every blue moon I get assignments where my being a 'boring' person (99.9% non drinker/200% non recreational drug user) is an asset.

Usually, this is when I create 'safe fun' at events or alcoholic beverage outlets or actually escort folks on a night out.

Tonight, a classic 'Borrow A Brother' volunteer situation happened at work: a pair of shoppers who were tipsy had no phones on them and no way to contact their friend with the car.

I asked if their friend had Instagram and typed out a message after the female shopper repeatedly video called the friend.

I reminded them the store I secured closed soon and urged them to stay in the general area since that's the last place they were together.

The friend DMed back shortly before closing and was actually at the front door talking to the manager on duty.

I told her the direction her tipsy friends walked in and hopefully they're reunited.

Advice:

• *Never, ever, never get separated during a trip, especially if alcohol is involved.
• *Keep a phone on you at all times: One tipsy person's phone in this scenario was broken since yesterday and the other one was actually with the friend who direct messaged me.
• *Have a designated driver or hire a 'safe fun' escort to be the sober person making sure good times don't suddenly turn bad.

That's why I'm occasionally a bodyguard for those who party hard because somebody needs to be the 'boring' one when nights get too exciting.

Update: The tipsy duo was found by their friend! All's well that ends well.
