More and more it pays to ONLY buy better material from folks you KNOW will be there next year, and who you have some faith in re authenticity of what is being offered, as they KNOW their stuff. Scammers on ebay are out there in legion numbers today. The same reason your heart surgeon or skin specialist or gynaecologist or car mechanic or IT guy knows their field is lots of experience, and years of learning their craft. Stamp dealers are no different. We have just as much a TRADE as a car mechanic or a skin specialist. Buy from reputable dealers, who have been selling good pieces for decades, and get a detailed receipt for the alleged "MUH" gems etc, and you do have some solid comeback. Buy off ebay or Delcampe, or a weekend fair etc, from folks who are in no trade bodies whatever, or very often are rank amateur dreamers at best, or deliberate con men at worst - and you may well find they are NOT there next month. Would you take advice on your diabetes issues or prostate problems from a guy in a pub on Friday night - or only from a medical professional? We all know the answer to that from any sane person, but stamp collectors generally ignore it totally when pricey "MUH STAMPS" are involved. They see a "bargain" and trip over themselves in the mad stampede to line the re-gummer's pockets. ANYONE reading this who insists on MUH/NH/UM for pre war stamp MUST read this – it may save you a fortune. Now back to stamps for SALE – no nasty 20% “Buyer Fees” to add on, no “Shill Bidders” to force up your cost, and no faked material to worry about getting stuck with. These lots have all been added in the past week or so and many were added only a half hour back. Tonga 1895 George II 2½d rose block of 9: SG 33. Characteristic rough perforations, fresh and flat unused, Cat £198+. BLOCKS from Tonga of this era are most elusive. A block 4 of the 1897 ‘Inverted Centre’ of this same King has just sold for $A75,000 – despite being way off centred, and thinned on 2 stamps! SG of that is only £24,000 - yet 3 bidders fought it out madly over the phone so grab an issue from the same era for just - $A200 - (Order as stock number 725GA) Bermuda 1920 2/- KGV, FU with *WATERMARKED REVERSED*, Cat £2,500 for $A1,750: One of the highest catalogued 20th Century Bermuda stamps – a true Classic from this super popular collecting area. The reversed “CA” watermark shows perfectly and clearly and centrally on the reverse – as you can readily see in the over-exposed image above of back. A huge bonus, as most reversed watermarks you need to peer and squint at, and still not be at all certain. (SG lists all wmks as seen from the FRONT.) Fine used and fresh - free of hinges, toning, thins and gunk, and beautifully centred. With lightest face free “Parcel Post” cds, and bright and attractive colour.
