The World Wide Fund for Nature funds vicious paramilitary forces to fight poaching. A BuzzFeed News investigation reveals the hidden human cost. "…In the Central African Republic, WWF arranged for the purchase of AK-47s from the country's notoriously brutal army. One WWF staffer told BuzzFeed News that he taught rangers how to safely handle AK-47s and to conduct defensive combat tactics. WWF also worked with the Seleka, the Muslim rebel group that seized power in the country's capital in 2013 and has been accused by Human Rights Watch of killing hundreds of civilians. In exchange for them not continuing to poach elephants, the organisation provided Seleka rebels with food and supplies…."
Over the years, there have been several reported incidents of forest rangers and army soldiers engaging in abuse and torture of members of indigenous groups who live around the protected areas. On the evening of June 3, 2006, Shikharam Chaudhary was returning home after spending the afternoon in the paddy field with his wife when he was arrested by rangers from Chitwan National Park and driven to their detention centre in Kasara. The rangers had received a tip from a suspected poacher that Shikharam, a resident of Divyanagar village, had information about a rhino horn. Under Nepali law, park rangers can arrest anyone suspected of being involved in crimes without a warrant—not just against protected wild animals, but also relatively minor infractions such as entering the park without a permit.Response by the WWF pertaining to the killing of Shikha Ram Chaudhari: Case dismissed, park staff released
"…Shikha Ram Chaudhari was allegedly killed during interrogation on 4 June 2006, which led to the three park staff being taken into custody. While the chief warden was later released on bail, Kamal Jung and Ritesh Bhusan remained in police custody for over seven months. The high rate of rhino poaching in Chitwan over the past few months added urgency to lobbying for their release from local communities, buffer zone councils and committees, the local hotel association, conservation organizations, and political parties. They expressed joint dissatisfaction regarding the charges brought against those with a proven track record for conservation and had been lobbying with major political parties and the government for their release. "WWF welcomes the government's decision," said Anil Manandhar, Country Representative of WWF Nepal. "I have every confidence that this move will renew the motivation of park staff and other conservationists to save Nepal's rhinos and root out illegal wildlife trade. WWF will always be there to support this endeavor in any way we can."

The authorities at a national park in India protect the wildlife by shooting suspected poachers dead. But has the war against poaching gone too far? Kaziranga National Park is an incredible story of conservation success. There were just a handful of Indian one-horned rhinoceros left when the park was set up a century ago in Assam, in India's far east. Now there are more than 2,400 - two-thirds of the entire world population.WWF accused of funding guards who 'tortured and killed scores of people'
World Wide Fund for Nature launches inquiry into claims that it works with paramilitaries allegedly involved in serious abuses One of the world’s largest charities has launched an investigation into claims that it funds, equips and works with paramilitary forces accused of beating, torturing, sexually assaulting and murdering scores of people in national parks across Africa and Asia. Human rights specialists will lead an independent review of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) conservation charity, following allegations of abuse in six countries, published by BuzzFeed news on Monday.
"OTTAWA, Feb. 27, 2018 – The Canadian government took a significant step toward protecting species at risk today with a $1.3 billion budget commitment over five years. World Wildlife Fund Canada welcomes this important and historic investment in nature."Not to mention all of the other NGOs Canadians are funding…what are those groups, national and international, actually doing with Canadian's tax-payer's money? Are we, in our want to do what we perceive is a good thing, donate to a charity, actually funding entities that are prepared, in the name of their obsession, kill, maim, rape, destroy the lives and liberties of the people? My statement on this is that all funding, for all NGO conservation and environmental groups, needs to stop now. People are being raped, murdered, beaten, robbed, their land and possessions taken by these groups as it would seem they are aiding and abetting in these heinous crimes. Are we, as Canadians, prepared to pay blood money for conservation, including the purchase of AK47's, etc., for paramilitary groups funded by the World Wide Fund for Nature—formerly the World Wildlife Fund? And how far is this activist group, or any conservation group, prepared to go in Canada? That is for you to decide…
