Can’t go to the hardware store to buy lumber for a home project to keep you from insanity brought on by cabin fever boredom; can’t get into the mall or anywhere else we used to call ‘Retail’ to pick up a new shirt as one of the 10 people allowed to attend your favourite uncle’s funeral.
If you’re Canada Free Press, you can’t even replace your longtime desktop computer by going into the nearest Apple Store (next town) to price check what it’s going to cost you, or if the one you need is even available. When you telephone Apple, you get a recording telling you that “the store is closed”. You can go online, discover if the model you want is available, order and pay for it online. Then you are allowed to call the store to arrange for curbside pickup.
Everything, including your favourite fast food is drive-through. In other words, curbside. Covid has made the entire Western World Curbside and brought the entire world of commerce to its knees in rolling LOCKDOWNS.
