Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the enigmatic, longtime Supreme Court justice who attained near cult-like status among progressive circles, died Friday at the age of 87 from complications surrounding metastatic pancreatic cancer. The late Supreme Court justice, who spent more than two decades on the bench in the highest court of the land, is survived by her two children, Jane Carol and James Steven Ginsburg.

Senate Homeland Security Committee authorizes subpoenas for testimony from Obama officials as part of Russia probe

The Senate Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday voted to authorize subpoenas for former CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey, and other Obama administration officials as part of its broad review into the origins of the Russia investigation. The committee on Wednesday held a business meeting to authorize committee Chairman Ron Johnson, R-Wis., to issue notices for taking depositions, subpoenas, for records, and subpoenas for testimony to individuals relating to the panel’s “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation, the Justice Department inspector general’s review of that investigation, and the “unmasking” of U.S. persons affiliated with the 2016 Trump campaign, transition team and the Trump administration.

Lancaster protesters throw bricks, break glass at police station after shooting of knife-wielding man

Protesters targeted police officers, a police station and adjacent buildings in Lancaster, Pa., overnight, throwing bricks, glass, flower planters, and even plastic road barricades. More than 100 people flooded the streets surrounding Lancaster Bureau of Police station early Monday morning to protest the fatal police shooting of a Black man armed with a knife during a domestic disturbance call hours earlier, police said.

Gold Star widow Brittany Jacobs told "America's Newsroom" she was "hurt" to see a Washington Post story using a photo of her 9-year-old son Christian with President Trump on reports the president trashed troops. Christian, who was dressed like a Marine, is pictured under a Washington Post headline about a controversial story in The Atlantic, which cites anonymous sources saying that Trump denigrated fallen soldiers. The boy's father, Marine Sgt. Christopher Jacobs, died during a training accident in California in 2011.

Trump announces 'Historic Peace Agreement' between Israel, UAE

California police officer pulls man in wheelchair from oncoming train with seconds to spare

A California police officer came to the rescue of a man in a wheelchair who was stuck on railroad tracks – pulling him to safety mere moments before a train passed through, a harrowing police video shows. Lodi Police Officer Erika Urrea was in the area of the train tracks around 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday when she spotted the man, who appeared to be stuck, as the railroad alert systems blared and the crossing arm was lowered, police said.-- More...

Chicago rocked by widespread looting caught on video after police-involved shooting

Videos circulating online show widespread looting and clashes with police across Chicago’s Magnificent Mile shopping district early Monday, sparked by an police-involved shooting hours earlier that left a young male wounded. Social media users posted videos of hundreds of people looting stores such as Nordstrom, Walgreens, Macy's, Coach, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Some exchanged gunfire with police at one point, although no officers were injured.
