Feb 1, 2019 — PJ Media

Former Fusion GPS contractor Nellie Ohr told House investigators last October that she was tasked with doing opposition research on Melania Trump and all of the president’s children during the 2016 campaign, according to congressional sources.

Ohr, who is married to Justice Department official Bruce Ohr, reportedly told lawmakers that her research included their business activities and travel. Bruce Ohr served as associate deputy attorney general until he was reassigned in December 2017.—More….

60 Percent of Students Value Tolerance Over Free Speech, Survey Finds

Jan 31, 2019 — PJ Media

On Wednesday, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) released a survey showing that college students in Generation Z or iGen are conflicted on free speech and seem to value tolerance and inclusion more than this important First Amendment liberty.

Sixty percent of students say “promoting an inclusive environment that is welcoming to a diverse group of students” is more important than “protecting students’ free speech rights, even if it means allowing hurtful or offensive speech,” the FIRE/YouGov poll found.—More…

The New York Times’ Roger Cohen Declares Himself a ‘European Patriot’

Jan 29, 2019 — PJ Media

In larger and larger numbers, Western Europeans are repudiating their subordination to Brussels. In Italy, this reaction has led to the installment of a government that is distinctly antagonistic to the European Union and, in particular, to its migrant-settlement directives. The United Kingdom, in accordance with the results of its 2016 plebiscite, is struggling to extricate itself from the EU. Elsewhere in Western Europe, politicians who reject the EU’s immigration tyranny are gaining support; in several nations of Eastern Europe, the heads of state, with strong public backing, are resisting EU demands that they take in armies of so-called migrants of the sort that are overrunning Western Europe. In May, elections for the European Parliament will take place across the continent. And at least some of the EU’s champions are unsettled.

I wrote the other day about one consequence of their concern: an open letter written by France’s most famous philosopher, Bernard-Henri Lévy, and signed by a glittering roster of celebrity “intellectuals” who fretted that anti-EU forces will win big at the ballot box in May. “Europe as an idea,” warned Lévy, “is falling apart before our eyes.” Highbrows like himself, he maintained, are fighting “a new battle for civilization”—a concept that, in his mind, is more or less synonymous with the European Union.—More….

Jan 29, 2019 — PJ Media

WASHINGTON – Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee, said she “probably” would support the effort to study reparations for descendants of slaves.

L.A. Times Continues Its Attacks on LAPD Officers, Decrying Racial Disparities in Police Stops

Jan 28, 2019 — PJ Media

Gentle readers, we return today to a topic that has become all too familiar: the Los Angeles Times and its eagerness to discredit law enforcement, most especially the Los Angeles Police Department.

On Thursday, the Times published a news story under the following provocative headline: “Stop-and-frisk in a car:’ Elite LAPD unit disproportionately stopped black drivers, data show.” Coming in at more than 2,500 words, the story decries the perceived racial disparity among the drivers stopped by a specialized unit of LAPD officers. Regular readers of the Times are accustomed to such stories, just as they are to the paper’s willingness to ignore relevant facts so as to advance the notion that minorities in Los Angeles are unduly put upon by the police.—More….

Covington Bishop Says He Was ‘Bullied’ Into Condemning Teens

Jan 28, 2019 — PJ Media

Bishop Roger Joseph Foys of the Diocese of Covington apologized to Catholic families and the teens who were confronted by a Native American elder and then wrongly accused of racism, saying he was “bullied and pressured” into making a premature statement.

“We are sorry that this situation has caused such disruption in the lives of so many. We apologize to anyone who has been offended in any way by either of our statements which were made with good will based on the information we had,” Foys wrote in the letter. “We should not have allowed ourselves to be bullied and pressured into making a statement prematurely, and we take full responsibility for it.” Foys wrote that he wanted to “especially apologize” to Nicholas Sandmann,  who was featured most prominently in the video. “I especially apologize to Nicholas Sandmann and his family as well as to all CovCath families who have felt abandoned during this ordeal,” Foys wrote. “Nicholas unfortunately has become the face of these allegations based on video clips. This is not fair. It is not just.”—MORE…

Diocese of Covington Walking Back Condemnation of MAGA Kids

Jan 24, 2019 — PJ Media

The Diocese of Covington walked back its earlier harsh condemnation of Covington High School Students accused of racism. On its website today there is only one message and all pages are shut down except the following.

On Monday afternoon the Covington Police alerted us that they had intelligence concerning a planned protest, Jan. 22, at Covington Catholic High School and a vigil at the Diocesan Curia. Due to threats of violence and the possibility of large crowds the Diocese was advised to close Covington Catholic High School, the Diocesan Curia and neighboring Covington Latin School. We thank law enforcement officers for their protection and will reopen when they say it is safe to do so.—More…

If Libs Will Lie About the Covington Catholic Kids, Who Won’t They Lie About?

Jan 23, 2019 — PJ Media

Ever since the 2016 presidential election broke the brain of every lib on earth, we’ve heard a lot about “foreign influence.” The Russians, once dismissed as harmless has-beens by the Democrats—“Governor Romney, the 1980s are calling to ask for their foreign policy back”—are now the boogeymen underneath every bed and around every corner. Whenever the Dems embarrass themselves, you can bet that somebody somewhere is blaming it on “foreign influence.”

And maybe they’re right!

Donie O’Sullivan, CNN Business:

Twitter suspended an account on Monday afternoon that helped spread a controversial encounter between a Native American elder and a group of high school students wearing Make America Great Again hats.—More…

Planned Parenthood Crumbling: Abortions Up, Services Down, Taxpayers on the Hook

Jan 23, 2019 — PJ Media

Over the holiday weekend leading up to Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Planned Parenthood released its annual report for June 2017-June 2018. That report painted a dire picture for the abortion giant, as the group doubled down on abortion and taxpayer funding, experiencing a drop in new patients and a decrease in other services.

According to an analysis from the Susan B. Anthony (SBA) List, Planned Parenthood may be facing a dire crisis as more than one-third of its overall revenue comes from taxpayer funds even as abortion numbers increase and taxpayers are reluctant to bankroll abortion.—More…

Jan 18, 2019 — PJ Media

A Christian actor in northeastern Mexico has financed what will become the world’s largest statue of Jesus Christ — in the country’s fifth most dangerous city.

Eduardo Verástegui Córdoba, a Christian actor and pro-life activist, announced that the “Christ of Peace” statue will tower at 252 feet, nearly twice the size of “Christ the Redeemer,” the 125-foot-high statue marking the skyline of Rio de Janiero, Brazil.—More…

After Ignoring Angel Moms, Senate Dems Hold Rally for Government Workers Affected by Shutdown

Jan 17, 2019 — PJ Media

Senate Democrats held a shutdown rally in front of the Capitol Wednesday morning, holding giant photos of government workers affected by the shutdown.

“Each one of these Americans has a different story about how the shutdown is hurting them and their families,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said. “As the Trump shutdown drags on, more and more Americans are hurt,” Schumer intoned. He went on to share the story of a federal food safety inspector for the Department of Agriculture who has missed a paycheck and now doesn’t know how he’s going to be able to afford his medical bills.—More…

Former Obama Tech Guy Was Behind 2018 Midterm Disinformation Campaign on Facebook

Jan 10, 2019 — PJ Media

It’s often been said that if you want to know what Democrats are up to, pay attention to the lies they are telling about Republicans.

Did the Trump team collude with agents from a Russian internet firm to place fake news on Facebook designed to stoke outrage, benefiting Trump in the run-up to the 2016 election?—More….

Dems Say They Aren’t Refusing Their Pay During Shutdown Because it Would be a ‘Distraction’

Jan 10, 2019 — PJ Media

WASHINGTON – One Democratic congressman told PJM he’s not joining other members of Congress in declining a paycheck during the government shutdown because it would be a “distraction” if lawmakers weren’t paid, as well.

So far, more than a dozen lawmakers have voluntarily declined their paychecks due to the ongoing shutdown. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) has reintroduced the No Budget No Pay Act and announced that he would send his payment to the U.S. Treasury until the government reopens.—More….

Prizzi’s Honor, Seed of Chucky

Jan 10, 2019 — PJ Media

As the shutdown heads into its fourth week, the nation is getting used to the radical idea that we can actually do without the fleets of bureaucrats who, in the immortal words of the Declaration of Independence, have been “sent hither to harass our people and eat out their substance.” For decades, as the federal leviathan has grown ever larger, and poked its voracious snout into all manners of unconstitutional fodder, the people of the United States have largely sat idly by, hoping to catch some of the droppings from the creature’s maw in the belief that it will not eat them too as it forages merrily along.

To be sure, the furloughed public servants are merely suffering delayed paychecks thanks to the Democrats’ refusal to accept the results of the 2016 election, and while the public has not been as deliberately inconvenienced as it was during the dog-in-the-manger Obama shutdown, its effects are nevertheless being felt at such points of intersection as the national parks. Still, life has gone on otherwise pretty much as before—and the longer the shutdown rolls on, the more easily the way we were can be forgotten.—More…

Wikipedia Calls Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez an ‘Educator’

Jan 8, 2019 — PJ Media

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has grabbed headlines for absurd claims like suggesting that Pentagon witchcraft can pay for single-payer health care or that Americans need to fight climate change like we fought the Nazis in World War II. Few would venture to call her an “educator” — except Wikipedia, apparently.

The online encyclopedia describes Ocasio-Cortez as “an American politician, activist, and educator.” Since Wikipedia is widely considered reliable, this result is the top search result on Google, meaning that if curious Americans were to ask their “smart” devices about Ocasio-Cortez, Siri, Google Home, Alexa, and others would give the immediate answer “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is an American politician, activist, and educator.”—More….
