Embracing Slavery in America

Well, here we are. I honestly thought, indeed, I HOPED, I'd not live long enough to see my country, the USA, become a dictatorship. But, as I said, here we are.

An Economic Doomsday IS Coming

Deep within the temporal lobe of the brain is this tiny little limbic system structure in roughly the shape of an almond. This little mass of nuclei has its tiny little hands in most of our emotions and survival motivations. It is from this teensie little clump of "stuff" that the signal is sent to either fight, or -- "get the heck out of Dodge."

2010 Election Just a Preview?

I was reading a piece by John Ransom at TownHall.com the other day in which he said: "Wonks and politicians may not see it, but those guys are in the process of self term-limiting out of business anyway- either by votes or by pageviews. 2010 was just a preview, (emphasis mine) not a conclusion even accepting the standstill in the 2012 election."

Return of the “Red Decade”

If you are a regular to this column, then you know we have mentioned many times that current events in Washington are very familiar. We've seen this movie before. And we have.

Don’t tell Me What I Need, Or Don’t Need!

Staring down at me from a photograph atop the computer monitor directly in front of me is the determined visage of John Singleton Mosby. His Confederate officer's uniform is resplendent. The brass is sparkling, the leather is polished, and his black knee boots are spit-shined to a high gloss. His left hand is resting on the hilt of his cavalry saber. Mosby's left foot is slightly forward giving the optical impression that he is leaning forward ready to do battle. And he was.

Christmas 2012

This is the time each year we wish for peace on earth and good will to men. Yet, we seem, each Christmas, to find ourselves lacking that Peace and the Good Will.

The Next American Civil War

“Tyrants preserve themselves by sowing fear and mistrust among the citizens by means of spies, by distracting them with foreign wars, by eliminating men of spirit who might lead a revolution, by humbling the people, and making them incapable of decisive action…” ... Aristotle You'd think ole "Ari" might have been peering through some sort of cosmic window into modern day America some 2300 years ago with comments such as those above.

What The Heck IS An Assault Rifle, Anyway?

I'm a veteran. I'm also a southern male in my seventies. I was raised traditionally, which is to say -- I was reared as a traditional southern lad around -- and with -- guns.

Just Say NO‬!

I come from a long line of horse thiev -- uh, traders. They bought, sold, and traded about everything. They didn't much mind if the items they were trafficking in were legal or illegal. Even a little prison time for one of my favorite uncles did little to blunt his fervor for creative income sources. A little money across the palms of a politician or two and he walked from prison a free man.

NC’s Racial Justice Act Is An Abomination

North Carolina is a death penalty state. With death row housing approximately 150 prisoners awaiting execution, NC hasn't executed a single prisoner since 2006. At least one prisoner has been sitting on death row for 22 years.

Through The Valley of the Shadow

It begins. On December 5th, 2012, I wrote the following:
"Rest assured that at some point, in the not too distant future, there will be an incident in which large numbers of people will be victims of gun violence. THAT will be the catalyst, the trigger, to unleash the gun control tsunami. The Obama Regime never allows a good crisis to go to waste, even if THEY have to create the crisis.

Congress To Push More Accursed Dollar Coins???

Some in the US government are, once again, hell-bent on replacing the dollar bill with a dollar coin. All the while they have warehouses piled high with sacks of brand new, never circulated, dollar coins with Sacagawea on them. (Not to mention the stacks and stacks of dollar coins with President's faces on them ... and others.) You remember Sacagawea... the Shoshone Indian woman who accompanied the Lewis and Clark expedition. Boy that was a bust! But it gets worse.

Don’t Trust—AND—Verify Anyway!

In the ongoing "negotiations" between Obama and his Democratic minions in the Congress and the Republicans and their Tea Party faction, the right side of this debate must be absolutely certain to verify the claims the democrats will make to cut spending.

A Day of Infamy – 71 Years Later
