The Cult of Obama

David Limbaugh, a widely read conservative columnist, recently wrote about the “Obama cult factor” and what it portends. From my point of view, however, it is one thing to rise to the highest office as the apotheosis of hope and change, and quite another to deal with nasty reality.

Put Me in Charge of the Auto Companies!

Assuming the Detroit auto manufacturers will get their multi-billion dollar bailout, the question arises whether the men in charge of General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford should continue to run these companies or whether some elaborate government system of oversight and direction should be imposed.

How Obama and the Democrats will Destroy the U.S. Economy

When I heard President-elect Obama speak casually of “bankrupting” the coal industry because of its role as a source of greenhouse gas emissions, I knew that he would become a serious threat to the economy of the nation.

Living in a Funhouse Run by Morons

It is hard not to believe that the United States is being run by people who have no idea regarding science, economics, or history. CAFE Standards, ethanol,

A Date that will live in Infamy

December 7, 1941, “A date that will live infamy” is a fading memory for those alive at the time and most certainly for those born since that day. For most Americans I suspect it is just a date they may have read about in a high school history book or seen dramatized in documentaries or films.

Pakistan as a Perennial Problem

Pakistan is another way of spelling T-R-O-U-B-L-E. Just ask anyone living in Mumbai or anywhere else in India, Kashmir, or neighboring nations.

Why Congress Will Make Things Worse

Does it strike anyone as odd that the Detroit auto manufacturers and the governors of a number of States, along with every other lobbyist in Washington keep looking to Congress to “fix” the problem of the nation’s economy when Congress is the reason it is teetering on disaster?

Why Aren’t US Mosques Burning?

Here’s a question worth asking. Why didn’t 9/11 initiate a nationwide retaliation against the many mosques in America? Why were America’s Muslims relatively free of widespread individual acts of retaliation?

Improbable Events

On December 1, President-elect Barack Obama will announce his diplomatic and national security team.

The Relentless Greening of America

The late comedian, George Carlin, did a riff on environmentalists in which he castigated them and everyone else who thinks humans should or can “save the planet.” He reminded the audience that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old, that 95% of all the species that ever lived are extinct, and that the Industrial Revolution is barely two hundred years old. The notion that, somehow, humans are destroying planet Earth is absurd.

Rethinking the Middle East

After 9/11 much of my thinking reflected the general view that Al Qaeda had to be found and destroyed. I thought, too, that Saddam Hussein had to be removed as an obstacle to stability in the Middle East given his invasion of Kuwait and general belligerence.

The Religion of Peace Strikes Again

The attacks in Mumbai, India are the latest in the 1,400 year history of Islam and yet people continue to express surprise that the alleged religion of peace could harbor so many cold-blooded killers of innocent people.

The PETA Thanksgiving Kill-Joys

imageThe folks at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, otherwise known as PETA, are back again trying to take the joy out of Thanksgiving and by that I mean trying to convince people that eating turkey is not only bad for you, but a gross violation of turkey rights. They have offered their “Top Ten Reasons Not to Eat Turkeys” among which is the claim that turkeys “are smart animals with personality and character”, but this does not explain why not one single turkey has ever written a sonnet, composed an opera, or been elected to Congress—despite the fact that many of its members are frequently referred to as turkeys.

An Explosion of Green Lies

If you think you’ve been hearing and reading more and more Green lies about global warming and a whole range of other Green scares, you’re right. The election of Barack Obama has opened the floodgates to a deluge of propaganda by the many Green groups seeking to advance their various agendas.

The UN Celebrates “Palestinians”, Hates Jews

On Monday, November 24, the United Nations will commemorate its annual “International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People”, a hate-filled day that ignores its own role in the establishment of Israel.

Darwin Got it Wrong and It’s Not What You’re Thinking

Charles Darwin got it wrong. This is not to disparage the man. Science is an ever evolving process and scientific theories are subject to being replaced by newer knowledge. Most certainly, Darwin (1809-1882) got everyone thinking about evolution, but the problem is that evolution is not a slow process. It happens very fast.

The Boring Institute, R.I.P.

It was this week in 1984, just prior to the famed Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, that it occurred to me that it looked the same, year after year. There’s nothing wrong in that. A parade is a parade, although it must be said that those in recent years seem all about merchandizing something or other.

November 22, 1963

I doubt that most Americans will recall that, forty-five years ago, on November 22, 1963, the President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas.

How Bad Laws Get Enacted

The way the Greens have imposed their agenda on America has largely been through deception, an often multi-layered effort to create the appearance of an environmental reality that does not exist.

Complicating Life

There was a time when getting the oil changed, along with the filters, and checking the air pressure in the tires of one’s car could be done easily in less than an hour. That was before cars came equipped with more computer power than the original Lander on the Moon.
