Whenever I feel there’s nothing for me to write about, Joe Biden slaps something on my plate I simply can’t help but enjoy digesting.

Sirocco

Sirocco: any hot, oppressive wind, esp. one blowing toward a center of low barometric (political?) pressure. The last few months have tested the American people’s patience. We’ve endured one of the greatest exhibitions of self-service in the history of politics: The Republican Party Presidential Candidate Debates. Some say, there’s been no greater example of hot air exchange since the development of the heat pump. It’s fitting the latest took place in Las Vegas, a city in the middle of a desert. It’s hot and was once barren until “special interests” took over and developed the area.

Rotten at the top

Okay. Why is it everybody thinks a problem, 30 years in the making, is going to be fixed with an airhead declaring victory and we all go home? Is economics so easily manipulated a person can simply issue a diktat and the rest of us all fall into line like good little lemmings and play follow the leader off of a cliff? Does the White House really believe its own press releases?

Nanny state

Occupy Wall Street is a protest happening as we speak. It seems many people involved are disenchanted with the way Wall Street has functioned over the years. They want to tear down that which brought them to the point they enjoy right now.

To Tour Elba

Obama’s on the stump again. He couldn’t convince a blind, deaf Neanderthal his latest challenge to Congress isn’t campaign rhetoric. The guy now carries the relevance of a callus. What relative good does it do? Is it of benefit because it cushions a body part from the pressures exerted on it; or is it useless skin (cracked and incapable of yielding) and is thus restrictive of forward movement?

Hype; not Hope

Stimulus One. Obamacare. Stimulus Two: American Jobs Act. Programs advertising elemental cures for what ails America. Obama’s failing to deliver. In a contest to only be described as Madison Avenue versus Pennsylvania Avenue, we were led to believe Hope alone would foster Change.

Fast becoming Furious

Political spin: a concept developed to explain the way politicians tiptoe around the truth in order to conceal their willing participation in a disaster. (Defined by me)

Infallibility

Which topics will be debated by the Supreme Court of the United States of America (SCOTUS)? Will they address Obamacare? Will the inscrutable justices decide on the propriety and exercise of the 10th amendment? Can people be forced (by virtue of the Commerce Clause’s over-reach and control of things commercial) to buy what they don’t want?

Spokes

To say we have a great form of government is an outright understatement. We have three separate, independent hubs supporting our societal bond’s outer ring. Most other countries only lust after it. By our Constitutional mandate, one spoke is meant to support the others while keeping fast its own integrity. Weakened substance and poorly crafted construction are the only things that can menace this system.

The Fed III

On initial observation, the Federal Reserve System is pretty much straightforward, But, any organization can be perceived in one way when it’s really something else. The Fed appears an organization benefiting the people, it’s really self-serving and totally dedicated to one thing--MONEY. And, in NO way can it be assumed it’s your money we’re talking about.

The Fed II

Simply explaining the Federal Reserve System’s operation isn’t easy if you’re not an economist. There’s a specific jargon, that jargon’s definitions and usage illustrates more of the governmental “newspeak” used in Orwell’s classic 1984. I feel the victim of a “thought crime”.

The Fed

Trying to describe how the Federal Reserve System works in 700 words is darned nigh impossible. So, I think (with your permission) I’ll try simplifying it as much as is possible. I’ll take a couple of days to give you an idea of how this might have gotten out of hand. There are great sources from Wikipedia on up for you to do your own research in this matter.

The Road Less Traveled

Metaphorically Robert Frost doesn’t normally step into the battering realm of politics. Accordingly, few people ever try equating him to circumstances devolving in Congress. But, allusions creep quietly into a writer’s mind as his deadline stealthily glides into range to strike like a viper with an attitude.

Doomed to repetition

Barack Obama’s been criticizing the “do-nothing Congress”. An allusion to Truman isn’t a smart move because people can inspect the whole “ox being gored” and find exactly what good this allusion can accomplish. In this case not much good can come from it.

This be a test

This is a test. This is only a test. If this made sense it wouldn't involve politics. This is ONLY a test.

Now the smoke clears

The names have been read, the memorials were washed with the freshened tears of loved ones remembering those lost to the machinations of madmen. A quiet settles across America and many people are already planning the memorial to be played out in five, ten and fifteen year increments.

Distant thunder

Reading the LA Times is akin to drinking fermented orange juice first thing in the morning. It probably won’t kill you if you have enough sense to put it down quickly enough. It’s not pleasant; it doesn’t taste right, is sometimes outright nasty; but it will wake you up quickly. Today was no different. In my efforts to see the world I live in from the perspective of people living outside of Louisiana I read newspapers on-line from traditionally “Blue” states to know what the opposition is thinking at times. (That’s IF they’re thinking at all at times.)

Schizophrenia

One of the strange dichotomies noted with respect to the Democratic Party is their drive to interpret “progress” by denigrating the Constitution. It’s the “living Document” theory. Their thinking’s in conflict with their stated goals of progressively moving America’s people toward the Golden Sunset they predict if we’ll just understand everything they say is right and everything anybody else thinks is wrong.

Don’t kill the messenger

I despise Eggplant. Knowing I’ve just ticked-off every Eggplant farmer on the planet I ask humbly for mercy. Please: don’t kill the messenger. Without more than a little umbrage I ask: what gives you the right to judge me of unsound mind for not liking Eggplant. Or, (dragging out the metaphor) that I’m lacking in patriotism or love for my country based on my opinions?

The American Resistance

I was present with a group of friends when we were graced with the presence of Representative Jeff Landry (R-3rd district). He spoke of his activity in the House of Representatives and commented on much of what’s going on in Washington.
