House Church Leader Zhu Baoguo Sentenced to ‘Re-education Through Labor’

ChinaAid learned a house church leader in Henan province, Pastor Zhu Baoguo, was sentenced to one year of "re-education through labor," accused of being an "evil cult" leader. On October 12, 2008 five church leaders were detained during a church gathering of about 20 people at Dushu village, Yuguang town, Neixiang county, Nanyang city, Henan province. Pastor Zhu received 15 days of administrative detention, while the other four leaders were sentenced to five days.

The national advocacy group In God We Trust today blasted the atheist American Humanist Association for its ad campaign mocking the Christmas holiday and American's who believe in God. Prominent Beijing Rights Defense Lawyers Fired from Law Firm

On October 30, Christian Attorney Li Subin was told he was fired from the Beijing Yitong Law Firm because he and 35 other Beijing lawyers signed an open letter in August calling for direct election of the leaders of the Beijing Lawyers Association [equivalent to Bar Association]. About five to seven other lawyers have also been dismissed or forced to leave their respected law firms for the same reason.

On October 30, 2008, Students for Life of America (SFLA) released undercover video footage recently taken of a nurse at a NJ Planned Parenthood facility in Freehold, NJ describing how an abortion would be performed on a 22 week old unborn child to a pregnant woman. In the footage, the Planned Parenthood nurse describes to the pregnant woman that the abortion procedure would involve inducing labor and delivering the baby, and after the woman asks if the baby can be born alive, the nurse admits that "it does happen, but it wouldn't be able to survive on its own so eventually the baby does die."

Senator Obama's response to the media finding his stem cell ads to be false, is to air more of them. The Democrat candidate's camp is claiming that Senator McCain opposes "stem cell research". In the latest ad, heard running on WLW radio in Ohio on 10/6, there is no distinction made between adult stem cell, umbilical cord stem cell, and embryonic stem cell research. Obama, in addition to counting on his supporters to not know the difference between the various forms of stem cell research, also relies on them to be unaware that McCain has a position opposite to that which the ads claim.
