Global-Alarmism makes a predictable appearance

You can rely on scientific hysteria to keep making itself known on a recurring schedule. Great research minds locked away in sterilized laboratories occasionally surface to reveal the findings of their work, which continue to point to the need for more funding for their projects. Problems are never solved; they appear and must be combated until interest in them can no longer be generated.

Ding Dong! Maggie’s gone! But the hatred keeps on coming

In only a few days since the death of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, the Wizard of Oz song ‘Ding Dong the Witch is Dead’ has approached the top of the UK singles music chart. It is meant as a direct insult to, and commentary on, the late Conservative leader. Despite having stepped out of party and governmental leadership 23 years earlier, her detractors are still outraged at her so much so that a campaign to make this song Britain’s best seller is likely to succeed.

Lessons from The Iron Lady

I’m reminded of the principles that Margaret Thatcher, espoused and stood for, and how true they remain today.

BBC bias on full display

British licence fee pounds were hard at work on Good Friday as the BBC broadcast a show representing Jesus Christ as married to Mary Magdalene. To determine this on your own is one thing, but for the state owned broadcaster to do this, using money extracted from its people for the sole purpose of running itself, it is something else.

Cameron’s faith flexible to accommodate political winds

Easter weekend is set aside to remember the Biblical accounts of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For many it has become, like many holiday periods, a time for shopping and family gatherings. While Jesus may be supportive of family time, holiday shopping sprees illustrate where the faith of many has departed.

School food fight brings ban

Castle View School on Canvey Island in Essex experienced some form of hostilities during the lunch period March 20th resulting in food being thrown by pupils. It’s not clear if it was a major skirmish or an isolated sniper attack but one boy in year 7 (age 11-12) was hit near the eye by a triangular shaped flapjack.

Independence for Scotland? – Not!

Clegg goes to the mat on benefits for pensioners

Responsible spending has long been the property of Conservative governments with opposition parties to the left clamoring for higher taxes to fund an increased array of programmes for the varying groups of people believed to be disadvantaged. But in the current odd couple British coalition government it is the social spending minded Liberal Democrats calling for spending limits on pensioner subsidies, while the Conservative Prime Minister says that such cuts are off limits.

Fat Tax Alert

Brits. need to hold on to their wallets and their soft-drinks, including the age old Coke & Pepsi, as the obscure Academy of Royal Medical Colleges (no doubt inspired by New York Mayor Michael “Nanny” Bloomberg) has come forth with a report to slap a 20% tax on sugary drinks.

The Eastleigh By-Election

On the south coast of England this coming Thursday will be the culmination of another in a long line of political spectacles, commonly known as the by-election. (for Americans and some others that’s a special election) This is triggered by the vacating of a seat in the British Parliament due usually to death or corruption, and in this case most definitely the latter. Incumbent Chris Huhne, of the Liberal Democrat Party, has stood down on account of being caught speeding (in a car, not on drugs); and then successfully assigning blame to his wife.

The Wealth Tax eyes Britain

Not to be outdone by the French, as well as lefties in the United States, Britain’s Liberal-Democratic Party (Lib-Dems.) are floating ideas for a comprehensive wealth tax. What does Britain’s so called centre party have in mind? How about taxes on jewellery including rings & necklaces! Throw in some of your furniture and paintings and you’ve got a new source of revenue for Westminster bureaucrats. Not off limits is an expansion of the mansion tax to include holiday homes and buy-to-let properties.
