In the latest scandal de jour, New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie is learning that he is fair game for any and all. It seems that a Christie aide ordered lane closures which lead to snarled traffic on the George Washington Bridge.
It also looks like the investigation will be deep and wide and leave no stone unturned. Answers will be forthcoming, we are promised. As I see it, he acknowledged the problem, fired the offender and faced 2 hours of bruising media interviewers with humility and honest disappointment in his staff. He did not shrink from nor deny responsibility. His is a lesson that many, most especially the President, should heed. Mistakes happen. Errors in staff selection happen. Even errors in judgment happen. Real leaders accept and own them, learn, and move on. America is watching. In Chris Christie they perceive strength of character and leadership. And they pine for it in the Oval Office. Sue Land
