Maybe my memory is failing, but I seem to recall Democrats sitting on their hands during most of President Bush's addresses to the Congress. But now that many in the nation have been caught up in the Barack Obama awe, Republicans are expected to suspend their opposition and give the new president some love.
But they didn't a couple of nights ago, and just whose fault was that?
“I don’t think we found any Republican minds today,” Rep. Barney Frank told a reporter minutes after the president had finished his speech. “They shut their minds down. They are so afraid of being yelled at by Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity they won’t even clap for him (Obama) even when they agree with him.” “They are literally afraid to deal with him,” said Frank. “I think they are frustrated by how effective he (Obama) is that they are not open to him.”
Good thinkin', Barney. Insult and humiliate the Republicans and they'll just want to fall in line. I know it didn't make for good television to see a good portion of the legislators not cheering with rock concert-like euphoria. But some chose not to drink the Messiah Kool-Aid and to vilify them for doing exactly what Democrats proudly did to President Bush, AGAIN, shows just how (choose your adjective) Barney Frank continues to be.
