The headline reads: "Boomers won't Budge: US jobs market experiencing massive congestion."
The first line blames it on older workers who won't retire. The fact of the matter is, many of them CAN'T retire. Investments were devastated by the recession; savings have been devastated by healthcare costs; home values are down so selling their homes isn't an option; and food, medical, and insurance costs have risen. Do these yahoos really believe that people who have already been working for 45 plus years, who have raised their kids, supported their parents, contributed to their churches and communities and who looked forward to a few easy years before death are selfishly hoarding jobs? It is incomprehensible to think that this could be the implication. It marks a low point in our society when, rather than express regret for the situation, they assess blame. R. Earl Warren
