Toronto, – We are shocked and saddened today to learn of Jim Flaherty’s death. His steadfast commitment to public service and improving the lives of Canadians had earned him respect across Canada and around the world.
His death deprives Canada of an outstanding political and economic leader. I regret that he did not live to enjoy all the compliments due him for his accomplishments, notably as federal finance minister. We offer our condolences to his colleagues, friends and family.
