Dear Canadian SPME Colleague,
Please find below an invitation to register for the Founding Conference of the Canadian Academic Friends of Israel, entitled: “Emerging Trends in Anti-Semitism and Campus Discourse.”
The conference, to be held in Toronto on March 8-9th, will serve as the launching point for CAFI, and the conference comes at a particularly relevant point in time, given the emergence of the “Academic Boycott of Israel” resolution from CUPE Ontario, and leading into what promises to be a particularly troubling year for students during “Israel Apartheid Week.” The conference will offer us all an opportunity to get to know one another, and to discuss the very real issue of anti-Semitism on our campuses. The conference will feature world-class speakers, including:
Opening Keynote: The Hon. Irwin Cotler
Closing Address: Lord Parry Mitchell
Reception Address: Israeli Ambassador Miriam Ziv
Dr. Charles Small, Yale University
Dr. Gregory Stanton, Princeton University
Dr. Edward Beck, Director, Scholars for Peace in the Middle East
Dr. David Menashri, Tel Aviv University
Dr. Roni Stauber, Tel Aviv University
Dr. Ada Aharoni, Intenational Forum on the Culture of Peace
Dr. Jacques Gauthier, Independent Historian
Dr. Irving Abella, York University
Dr. Mitchell Bard, America-Israel Cooperative Enterprise
Arieh Kovler, “Play Fair Campaign,” (United Kingdom)
There is no registration fee, and there are subsidies available to cover costs for out of town guests. I look forward to seeing many of you in March. To register, please visit http://www.caficonference.com, or, for more details, email
