Chris Rock may be a famous former Saturday Night Live cast member and comedian but in my mind his comparison is dead wrong. He said that Barack and Michelle are like our parents.
No, Mr. Rock, they are not like my parents, they are nothing like my parents, and they will never represent parental figures to me.
First of all, my parents worked hard to support us. They didn't believe we were entitled to a darned thing.
Second, my parents didn't spend more money than they earned every week. If we needed more money, my Dad took a second job or did part-time work and my mother did house cleaning to help out. Third, my parents were Christian people who believed in our Christian heritage. Fourth, my parents were Patriots who celebrated Lincoln's birthday AND Washington's birthday. Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day, Veteran's Day and Pearl Harbor Day. And finally, my parents took personal responsibility for their own actions.
Setting aside the fact that we are supposed to be the bosses in the government/citizen scenario. I take great exception to anybody comparing this President and his wife to my parents.
