Clueless Government

Another story about the fiscal ineptitude within our government came to light this week.

It seems that the telephone companies in the United States must comply with government ordered wiretaps. It also seems that there is a guideline as to permissible charges. The real news is that the Federal Government has sued Sprint to recoup some $21 million in overcharges related to said wiretaps. The charges were incurred from 2007 to 2010. That is were my blood boiled. Who is minding the store? Why would it take 6 years to find out you are over charged? Buried in the news article was also the little nugget that the government paid the companies to install the equipment to conduct the surveillance. I have to wonder, where are we with the other carriers? What will the total cost be after adding attorney's fees? All to correct something that a responsible government agency should have caught in 2008. It is become abundantly clear that this government has no idea what is going on anywhere. Victoria Vaughn
