Court Rules Against Planned Parenthood, Medicaid Fraud May Cost Abortion Biz $1.8 Billion

A federal appeals court on Wednesday dismissed Planned Parenthood’s bid to stop a major Medicaid fraud lawsuit, returning the case to trial court where the organization faces potential damages approaching $2 billion.

The full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, sitting en banc, ruled that it lacked jurisdiction to hear Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s interlocutory appeal.

The decision sends the case back to the Northern District of Texas, where Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk had earlier rejected the group’s claim that its attorneys were immune from the suit.

The lawsuit, brought by whistleblower “Alex Doe” under the False Claims Act, alleges that three Planned Parenthood affiliates continued submitting Medicaid bills after Texas and Louisiana terminated their eligibility in 2015. A mother who was pressured by doctors to have an abortion because of a large uterine fibroid refused the advice and gave birth to a healthy daughter who is now nearly 5 years old and thriving.

Rebecca Lepre discovered a 5-centimeter uterine fibroid in the fall of 2020 and was scheduled to consult a surgeon early the next year. In January 2021, after learning she was pregnant, she visited the surgeon at five weeks to discuss removing the growth.

“I sat with the surgeon while he reviewed my scans and, without looking up at me, he said ‘Let me check my schedule so we can terminate the pregnancy,’” Lepre recounted. ---More...

Teens Appear in Court After Mom Gives Birth to 31-Week-Old Baby, Leaves Baby in Toilet

Two teenagers appeared in court after an 18-year-old woman gave birth to a 31-week-old baby in a toilet and left the newborn there following an attempted chemical abortion.

Syeisha Jadan Johnson, 18, and Elijah Jshaun Speight, 19, face felony charges stemming from the July 29 incident at a Durham home.

According to court documents, Johnson ordered abortion drugs online and took them days earlier in an effort to kill the baby. She then experienced abdominal pain, sat on the toilet, and delivered the baby, who was left in the toilet for several minutes. ---More...

Babies, already a rare commodity in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, are becoming an endangered species. This week, Democratic Governor Maura Healey, surrounded by a cheering audience of almost exclusively female supporters, signed into law a bill making the Bay State the 10th in America to allow abortion for virtually any reason up to birth.

Healey and much of the mass media described the bill as a measure to allow women to stay in-state for abortions when a baby has a grave medical condition and may not survive outside the womb. In truth, the bill wiped out an existing law that allowed late-term abortion for reasons of mental health and fetal anomaly and now makes the baby’s demise subject to the unquestioned judgment of the abortionist and the parent(s). New Texas Poll Shows Ken Paxton Leading James Talarico

Republican Ken Paxton holds a one-point lead over Democrat James Talarico in the 2026 U.S. Senate race in Texas, according to a new Emerson College Polling/Nexstar Media survey of likely voters released Thursday.

The poll found 47% of respondents support pro-life Paxton while 46% support pro-abortion Talarico. Five percent remain undecided and 2% support someone else.

The survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted August 9-10 and has a credibility interval of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

“The race for U.S. Senate in Texas is sharply divided by age: voters under 50 favor Talarico by 15 points, 53% to 38%, while those over 50 break for Paxton by 11 points, 53% to 42%,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling. ---More...
