Definition of war

War is defined as military action. Such action is not confined to infantry (boots on the ground) action. It is military action. Bombings, supplying arms, training, advising, if done by the military are actions of a war.

Now this administration and half the American people can say that we are not engaged in a war. But we are. As long as we are using military personnel and equipment in an area of conflict, we are at war. To call it a counter insurgency is simply playing with words. An insurgency is a revolt, uprising, insurrection or battle. So counter insurgency is the other side of a revolt, uprising, etc. If our military is in an area of conflict to assist in countering said conflict, they are engaged in a war. Look past the fancy and deceitful words as assess what is actually occurring. Whether our military involvement is the correct action is another issue. But at least let's be honest in our words. When we send our young people, our weapons and our money to one side of a conflict, we are involved in a war. Jean Arcamone Englewood, FL
