The idea that China is to blame for the global temperature standstill does not stand up. It is a fact that in a world where CO2 is increasing year by year, the world’s temperature has not increased. The cause remains a mystery and nobody knows how long it will continue. It might seem an obvious thing to say but the credibility of global warming science rests on the fact that global warming has to resume. If it doesn’t happen fairly soon, then some of our assumptions about the science will need rethinking. –- David Whitehouse, 14 July 2011
