Driving Through Quebec We made sure that our Yorkshire Terrier Yankee had a longer than usual walk and stocked up on sandwiches at the last gas station in -. Both needed to get us through the 5-hour drive through La Belle Province without have to stop for food, gas, or dog walks. Yesterday was the second leg of our trip getting down to Nova Scotia. In New Brunswick today, we’re starting off the last leg. Spotted along the road in Quebec on our way to the Maritimes yesterday, a man driving a pick up truck, with thumbs-up and Canadian flags surrounding a big sign reading, ‘Hail to the New World Order’.
Earlier in the morning another man wore a mask pumping gas and sported a Che Guevara T-shirt. We worried most during the 1,700-mile trek to Nova Scotia about the worrisome Quebec roads, including along highway 85, south from Trois-Rivières to Edmundston, New Brunswick, where the Trans Canada highway has been under construction/upgrade since at least 2008. We drove through it six weeks ago house hunting in New Brunswick, and again yesterday finding it the same hellish drive: tens of millions of dollars of construction equipment lined up for use.—but still not much progress. Little wonder why we heave sighs of relief when we finally see signs advertising Edmundston, N.B.! There was no one around other than the mask-wearing guy and us. Was he afraid of catching Covid from the gas pump? One sees Covid masks on young and old often in Quebec. They are apparent in the Province of Ontario too. Why all these masks when mask mandates ended weeks ago? Because people are confused. They see Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ontario Premier Doug Ford wearing masks each time the turn on their televisions. Trudeau and Ford are walking advertisements for the media-hyped pandemic, and work to sustain scaremongering the masses. The two of them-close personal friends—are flying high these days even though both are responsible for some of the most draconian Covid mandates in the world. Polls show that Fatcat Ford is headed for certain re-election on June 2—even though his policies bankrupted thousands of small, once thriving, Ontario businesses. Ford will be re-elected because Liberal, NDP and Green Party opposition are just as hopeless as Ford is. It will take 4 more years before voters get a chance to dump Trudeau. What will be left of Canada by then? Things look bad for the future of not just Canada but the U.S. too. Ray DiLorenzo’s brilliant column today boosted the flagging morale of road warriors Brian and Judi. He is so spot-on when he writes of our current crop of politicians: ”We are indeed on the eve of destruction, if we let them.”
