Florida's Halo Law, effective January 1, 2025, establishes a 25-foot "no-go" zone around first responders

The law was passed to protect first responders, but some civil liberties groups have expressed concerns that it could hinder the public's ability to record officers.

Distance Requirement: After receiving a verbal warning from a first responder (law enforcement, firefighter, or paramedic) engaged in their official duties, you must immediately retreat and maintain a distance of at least 25 feet.

Prohibited Intent: It is a second-degree misdemeanor to approach or remain within the 25-foot buffer zone with the intent to block, interfere with, threaten, or harass the first responder.
