“Danny O’Brien, the executive vice president and head of government relations at Fox News’ parent company, is a former Joe Biden chief of staff who is reportedly actively helping the Biden campaign connect to Washington lobbyists. “Danny O’Brien started out with gigs at the Democratic National Committee, director of ethnic outreach for the Clinton White House, and on the Al Gore campaign. He served as Joe Biden’s chief of staff in the Senate from 2003 to 2006, then worked as political director for Biden’s 2008 presidential campaign.
“After working for Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez and General Electric, he inexplicably became the executive vice president and head of government relations at Fox Corp in 2018. Fox Corp is the Murdoch entity that currently owns Fox News. Thus, the effective chief lobbyist for Fox News is a hardcore Biden guy. And he’s also not-so-discreetly helping the Biden campaign this election cycle. “In a March 2020 article headlined, “Biden surge brings sense of relief to K Street,” POLITICO reported (emphasis added): “Former Sen. John Breaux (D-La.), another old friend of Biden’s who’s now a lobbyist, showed up with Dodd at a fundraiser in Georgetown last year but didn’t write a check. “I’m sure I wasn’t the only nonpaying customer,” he said with a laugh at the time. “Danny O’Brien, a former Biden chief of staff who’s now the top lobbyist for Fox Corporation, has helped connect supporters to the campaign as well. “Other former Biden staffers on K Street include Sudafi Henry, a lobbyist who represents clients such as Facebook, FedEx and PepsiCo; Tony Russo, the top lobbyist for T-Mobile; Jeffrey Peck, who lobbies for clients such as Deutsche Bank and Anheuser-Busch; and Chris Putala, a lobbyist whose clients include Comcast and T-Mobile, according to disclosure filings.”
“With the general election just three weeks away, Giuliani ultimately brought the story to the New York Post, which shares the same owner, Rupert Murdoch. The tabloid has been exhaustively covering the contents of the laptop — which include everything from emails regarding Hunter Biden’s work for a Ukrainian company to personal photos of the recovering addict — with each morsel being amplified in the conservative media world, including on Fox News’ top-rated opinion programs. Thus far, the Fox’s News division has only been able to verify one email from the tranche leaked. Some of Fox News’ top news anchors and reporters have distanced themselves from the story. During an on-air report that largely focused on how social media platforms handled this story, Bret Baier said, “Let’s say, just not sugarcoat it. The whole thing is sketchy.” “You couldn’t write this script in 19 days from an election, but we are digging into where this computer is and the emails and the authenticity of it,” he added. “Chris Wallace also called the story “suspicious” and said, “I can understand the concern about this story. It is completely unverified and frankly, Rudy Giuliani is not the most reliable source anymore. I hate to say that, but it’s just true.”
“According to a leaked memo obtained by The Daily Beast earlier this year, the research department at Fox News had previously described Giuliani as “amplifying disinformation” surrounding the Ukraine corruption story that lay at the heart of the impeachment of President Trump earlier this year. “The initial laptop story broke on Wednesday of last week. By Friday, Fox News had confirmed the veracity of just one email, which has been used by some to validate the entire tranche of files “uncovered” by Giuliani: "One email, dated May 13, 2017, and obtained by Fox News, includes a discussion of “remuneration packages” for six people in a business deal with a Chinese energy firm. The email appeared to identify Hunter Biden as “Chair / Vice Chair depending on agreement with CEFC,” in an apparent reference to now-bankrupt CEFC China Energy Co. “Mediaite has learned that Fox News was first approached by Rudy Giuliani to report on a tranche of files alleged to have come from Hunter Biden’s unclaimed laptop left at a Delaware computer repair shop, but that the news division chose not to run the story unless or until the sourcing and veracity of the emails could be properly vetted."With all of its human and financial resources, Fox is passing on the Biden laptop story, and could only verify a single email? In most Fox stories on the Biden laptop scandal, the word ‘alleged’ is always there. But there’s nothing alleged about Danny O’Brien being Fox Executive Vice President and Head of Government Relations— because it’s an incontrovertible fact. This story was brought to Canada Free Press attention by pundits, proving once again that amateur pundits are often far more savvy than the well-paid professional pundits on the news networks of our day.
