Gender Gap
We hear a lot of "gender gap" political theories expounded so let's take a look at reality. In 1972, a proposal to reject the Equal Rights Amendment was part of the Republican platform. The Republicans won 49 of the 50 states in November, losing only Taxxachusetts.
Four years later, liberal Republican Betty Ford, Mrs. Gerald Ford, persuaded the party to include support for the ERA so it stayed in the platform by a close committee vote of 51 to 47 - very bad move. The Republicans lost the 1976 election to weak Demo candidate Jimmy Carter, the ultimate embarrassment. Follow the media "experts" to your own demise. Listen to liberal Republicans and be prepared to lose.
