God Keep Our Land

I am disappointed and feel it a great shame that Burton Cummings deliberately left out the words "God keep our land" when he sang our National Anthem at the 100th Grey Cup in Toronto Sunday. It’s hard to believe the Grey Cup organizers allowed him to do this.

Perhaps it was their intention, in honor of the 100th Grey Cup, to make a point of omitting God from our lives and collective conscience. If Mr. Cummings feels that the traditional words expressing Canada’s Christian heritage don’t suit him, he shouldn’t be singing our national anthem in a public venue. In doing so he offends all Canadians who still believe in God and who hold fast to our nation’s founding principles. Mark Kokoski Hamilton, Ontario
