GOLDSTEIN: If Canada can’t build new oil pipeline, we're not serious country

If it’s truly impossible for our federal government to create the winning conditions to build one new oil pipeline from Alberta to tidewater in B.C., then we may as well admit Canada is not a serious country.

That is, a country interested in ensuring its own economic survival.

That’s not a knock on Prime Minister Mark Carney. At least he’s trying.

This after a decade of the worst economic growth of any Canadian government, as defined by real gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, since that of R.B. Bennett during the Great Depression.

We know that’s true because it was an allegation made by Justin Trudeau about the Stephen Harper government in the 2015 election, before Trudeau took the reins and compiled a worse record over the next decade. ---More...
