As we pull away from military involvement in the middle east, we are left with massive amounts of military equipment and arms. One of these items is Mine Resistant Armored Protection vehicles. What does a country equipped for war but no longer involved do with its arsenal?
The answer the Washington geniuses devised? Retro fit (adding to the cost) and sell them to American cities. But, American cities are broke. How can they afford these vehicles with price tags of half a million? No problem, the Department of Homeland Security is either gifting them or providing grants for the purchase.
Does anyone see a problem? Do you think the Police Dept. might become indebted to DHS? Why would Albany New York need a tank and an armored truck? Equipment went to Ohio State, High Springs, FL,. and Dallas, Texas, to name a few. I wonder how many local departments can properly train officers in the use of these items?
It is a little unsettling to say the least. Or downright suspicious. You decide.
