If Sen. Cruz is Leading The Fight Against Name-Calling Dems, Then God Help Us! “…I’m the one leading the fight in the Senate against this garbage”-Senator Ted Cruz. The “garbage” being “Democrats and the corporate media” having so politicized the word ‘terrorist’: They’re trying to paint everyone as a terrorist, and it's a lie … They want to paint us as Nazis …” Well, if showboat Ted Cruz is really the one “leading the fight in the Senate against this garbage”, then God help us all.

Cruz, coming forward with a televised mea culpa

There’s little if any ‘fight’ in someone who would resort to the same enemy’s name calling of average Americans. Nor, in fact, in many other GOP members, only occasional sabre-rattling, immediately laughed off by the defaming-of-citizens other side. On Wednesday Cruz openly called Jan. 6, 2021, a "violent terrorist attack.” “During a Wednesday Senate Rules Committee hearing, Cruz said, "We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week … And it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol, where we saw the men and women of law enforcement demonstrate incredible courage, incredible bravery — risk their lives for the Capitol.” (Fox News, Jan 6, 2022) By the next day, was already trying to duck for cover by getting himself on the immensely popular Fox News Tucker Carlson Show—the network’s top watched show. Cruz, coming forward with a televised mea culpa, reminds me of some of those so-called Catholics who, upon proceeding to commit a mortal sin, tell themselves, ‘I can always go to confession later’. Nobody’s fool, Carlson didn’t buy the senator’s confession, when he told him, “It was a mistake to say that yesterday.”

On "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Cruz described his remarks as "sloppy" and "frankly dumb,"

It was a mistake yesterday, the day after and a mistake ever more. A shameful one! On "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Cruz described his remarks as "sloppy" and "frankly dumb," but Carlson said he doesn't "buy that.” (Fox News) “Carlson said Cruz was no dummy and was masterfully careful with his words, so he didn't buy the Republican senator's justification of sloppiness. "I've known you a long time since before you went to the Senate. You were a Supreme Court contender," Carlson continued. "You take words as seriously as any man who's ever served in the Senate … I do not believe that you used that accidentally. I just don't." “Cruz reiterated his point that his phrasing was not intentional, but negligent. "As a result of my sloppy phrasing, it's caused a lot of people to misunderstand what I meant. Let me tell you what I meant to say. I was referring to … the limited number of people who engaged in violent attacks against police officers … I've drawn a distinction. I wasn't saying that the thousands of peaceful protesters supporting Donald Trump are somehow terrorists. I wasn't saying the millions of patriots across the country supporting President Trump are terrorists, and that's what a lot of people have misunderstood.”

What’s there to be “misunderstood” about being smeared as a “terrorist”?

What’s there to be “misunderstood” about being smeared as a “terrorist”? “Carlson said Cruz was not making sense and that there is a legal and moral difference between someone who attacks a police officer and a terrorist. (Fox News) “Carlson said, "So if somebody assaults a cop, he should be charged and go to jail. I couldn't agree more. We've said that for years, but that person's still not a terrorist … You're playing into the other side's characterization that … allows them to define an entire population as foreign combatants. And you know that. So why did you do it?” “Cruz added that he always believed that people who attack police are similar to terrorists: "I've done so over and over and over again.” “Carlson said, "I guess I just don't believe you ... because I have such respect for your acuity and your precision, and I've seen it on display. I've covered you as a reporter. I know how you speak, and you have sat there for a year and watched people use language to distort the events of that day.” “In the segment's close, Cruz said, "I've used that word for people that violently assault cops. I used that word all in 2020 for the antifa and BLM terrorists that assaulted cops and firebombed police cars, but I agree it was a mistake to use the word yesterday, because the Democrats and the corporate media have so politicized it. They're trying to paint everyone as a terrorist, and it's a lie … They want to paint us as Nazis … I'm the one leading the fight in the Senate against this garbage.”

Too bad Cruz can’t muster up more energy for action rather than virtue signalling his professed love of cops

Words are cheap and do nothing to stop rampaging BLM and antifa activists who assault cops and firebomb police cars, only congressional and senatorial action do. The vice president of the same party that smears citizen protesters with the name ‘terrorist’ accusations aids the release of fire bombing activists from jail—even promoting the paying of their bail—and tragically, the killing of cops on duty carries on all over the U.S. to the present day. Too bad Cruz can’t muster up more energy for action rather than virtue signalling his professed love of cops. Writes Robert Ringer, ‘A Voice of Sanity in an Insane World’ about Cruz today:

It should matter far more what he said it than why he said it

“On top of everything else, Cruz made the mistake of inviting himself on Tucker Carlson’s show to explain how it had all been nothing more than a misunderstanding and that he really meant those words only for the handful of protestors who attacked the police. “Needless to say, to voluntarily subject himself to Tucker’s scrutiny on national television was an act of pure masochism.  “Predictably, it turned out to be the shortest suicide note in American political history.”  Cruz’s White House hopes are now on a par with those of Willie Brown’s ex-girlfriend.
There’s an eerie silence from Cruz’s Repub colleagues today, with some quietly asking why he said what he did. It should matter far more what he said it than why he said it. Meanwhile, no one can save Ted Cruz from himself. Not even the ever wary Tucker Carlson.

Reader Comment's

From: Martin B. I believe AWM is right. I also believe we will never see a president like President Trump ever again. The Republicans/Conservatives are weak and fell asleep for the last 50 years and lost. The Democrats and Liberals standing there and honoring the fallen soldiers are hippocrates of the first order. My dad showed us kids the thousands off white crosses in Europe of people who gave their lives for our freedom. It becomes clear that the new bastions of freedom will be found in ex-communist countries like Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia. They know, they lived it. From: AWM “There are no sides.” “There’s no Sunnis and Shiites.” “There’s no Democrats and Republicans.” Just haves and have nots. It is all a “Big Show” and there is no Deep State but just “The State.“
