She was Churchill's successor as the de facto leader of free people everywhere
Lady Margaret Thatcher, one of the greatest champions of freedom
Today, the National Citizens Coalition reacted to the passing of one of the greatest champions of freedom - Margaret Thatcher.
"Margaret Thatcher rescued Britain from the grips of crippling union-driven socialism," says Colin T. Brown, Chairman of the National Citizens Coalition. "It is largely because of Margaret Thatcher that the United Kingdom has remained a leading financial power."
Margaret Thatcher stood firm against communism in Europe. She was a staunch ally of US President Ronald Reagan, and both shared a firm belief in the principles of individual rights and free-market economics.
"Together, these champions of freedom brought down the Berlin wall."
The National Citizens Coalition co-sponsored Mrs. Thatcher’s first visit to Toronto in 1979, which included a speech that displayed her great character and devotion to her principles.
Mrs Thatcher was a magnetic personality," adds Brown. "She was Churchill's successor as the de facto leader of free people everywhere."
