The couch in my living room is 42 years old. It's was recovered after the 6 kids left home. So you forgive me for being a little miffed to hear that the IRS spent 96.5 million dollars on office furniture.
My truck has 205,000 miles and is looking a little like a candidate for "cash for clunkers". Many parts have been replaced in lieu of a new vehicle with the accompanying car payments. So you might sympathize with my bad attitude when I hear that we just authorized 1.24 billion dollars for a Presidential helicopter. After forgoing a vacation last year in order to fix a 23-year-old roof, you can only imagine my total frustration at learning that one trip to Africa and one to Hawaii cost the taxpayers $16 million in travel alone. There is no food or lodging or entertainment or security in that number. Now, look, I know he's a busy and important guy who couldn't be expected to live like us common folk. But come on, we are paying for this. And thanks to him and the rest of the cast of characters in DC, supporting them in the lifestyle to which they've become accustomed is killing us. Frankly, I'm sick of it. I need a vacation and a new couch. Jean Arcamone
