(Queen’s Park) – MPP Randy Hillier delivered a stinging criticism of Premier McGuinty’s mismanagement of the Ontario economy while he is jet-setting to and from China. On the heels of Ontario’s recent designation as a ‘have-not’ province, Hillier pointed out that the Premier’s response has been to silence debate through time allocation motions on two pieces of legislation directly affecting jobs and the economy.

“Why we are a have not province?” Hillier asked. “Because the Liberals use red tape to destroy our small businesses, and they drive our manufacturers off-shore.” “The Premier returns from China this week. I can hardly wait for his report. Did he find our lost 200,000 jobs or did he agree to export more jobs and businesses?” Hillier charged. “Clearly the Premier is fond of trading with China. We export our jobs and the Liberals import closure. Closure of our businesses and closure of debate,” he charged. Hillier was speaking to the recent time allocation motions introduced by the McGuinty Government to limit debate on Bill 114, Budget Measures and Interim Appropriation Act and Bill 119, Workplace Safety and Insurance Amendment Act. “The Liberals have used closure to silence debate on two very important bills which push us deeper into the red,” Hillier continued. “The Premier journeys thousands of miles, but our economy does not take a single step forward. Only backwards,” Hillier concluded. For the complete statement please refer to: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=XwMvrnX1zeY
