Having hospitals dispense charity goes against the government grain as it might prevent someone for signing up for Obamacare. The way many, many people get medical care is through Medicaid. Then working people are supposed to sign up through an insurance exchange for coverage. Computer failures, unaffordable premiums, defunct exchanges and a multitude of other problems have left millions of people without a medical safety net. What does Obamacare do? It penalizes hospitals that offer charitable care. They actually have to prove that there remains a need in their area for their charity. The paperwork is extensive and the penalty for not completing it is a large fine. Only under Obama do we discourage the milk of human kindness. This is a disgrace that should not be allowed to stand.
