Unbelievable. We have more than 1 billion dollars in Presidential one dollar coins that no one wants, sitting in Federal Reserve vaults and we will continue to mint them until 2016. The American people don't like them. It is very easy to confuse them with quarters and to carry more than one or two is impractical.
Ladies purses are too heavy and men's pants sag. But we mint on.
Now the Federal government wants to mandate the use of one dollar coins. How do you think that will work out?
Is this a way to force the use of coins that heretofore have been a colossal failure? So, who wins? The metal suppliers?
I guess it would free up a large storage facility. It's too bad that we have to be suspect of the motivations of our government.
I feel pretty sure that the American people have not had a epiphany and are not going to embrace the dollar coins.
So the Government Accounting Office suggests spending 8 million to try to sell us on the idea. Don't you love it?
Spending your money to convince you to embrace an idea you hate.
