Police release man arrested over murder of prominent British ex-politician Ann Widdecombe

A 26-year-old man arrested Friday on suspicion of murder in the killing of Ann Widdecombe, a former British member of Parliament and reality TV contestant, has since been released, police said.

Widdecombe, 78, was found dead Thursday in her Haytor Vale home on the edge of Dartmoor National Park in southwest England after sustaining what police said were “serious injuries.”

Devon and Cornwall Police Assistant Chief Constable Matt Longman said early Saturday that a man detained on Friday has been released from custody and is no longer part of the investigation.

“Our priority remains identifying those responsible and ensuring that all available evidence is thoroughly examined,” he said. ---More...
